I have a spare retail hdd that is giving me problems. If I install it and put in my Auto Installer Deluxe, it doesnt boot up to the screen with all the options (format/prepare hdd, etc...) but instead it says that unleash has found a new hdd and asks if I want to format it. Since this is a spare and I'm not worried about it I press both triggers and the start button (which is what it says to do) it formats the each drive letter and then asks if I want to format F: which usually skip (by pressing both triggers and the back button). After I do all this is tells me that AID cannot load all tha applications and there may be a problem with my F: drive and FTPing into it may solve the problem and it gives me my IP Address with Port 21. If anyone knows what the problem is I would appreciate the help!!!
Thanks

I've never seen anything like this- Why dont you try to Format F: ?
And i know you said this already wouldent work- but why dont you try to FTP over and put the apllications their for youself? Thats what i would try. And secondly- is the SPare Retail Hard drive from that xbox? OR the Eeprom set on from that Xbox? Or is it unlocked? This could play a vital role on the prob.

No the spare isn't from this xbox...but with the mod chip would it matter? It originally came from a bad mod attempt....the motherboard was damaged...and it was doing the same exact thing before the motherboard went bad.

sounds like the spare HD is locked..
I have seen that happen when popping a locked HD in and running the installer.
It's funny that way. Was this an unlocked HD or just a HD that you picked up. I realize it is an Xbox HD, but was it unlocked??? _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

It was from my old xbox that I just couldn't get working...I first hasd a error 16 so I bought my mod chip, put it in and ran AID...it booted up and did what I explained .... then it wouldn't boot up at all so I got another motherboard and hdd....modded that since I had enough practice on the bad motherboard and the new mod and new hdd work great...no problems but if I put in that old hdd i get the same exact problems that I got with the first mod attemp. I never was able to unlock/lock it because it never went that far...it would only let me format the hdd.
Thanks

Why dont you download HDD clone? Its a nice little program- But it rquires some work- You need to Hot swap The IDE cable from your DVD-rom To your second Hard Drive- Yep- Then just go to Unlock- OH! but you might want to set the jumpers to Slave (I think no jumpers sets it into SLave) ig you need any help just PM- i can help you STEP By STEP, weather you take huge GIANT sTEPS! or want to take baby steps- i can help you get the HD run on the system.

Or..... you could just take the eeprom off of your old box and transfer it to your new box, use config magic and apply it to your new box and hdd, this will allow you to view your old box'x hdd no problem.
If you don't know how to do this with cofigmagic go to the softmod discussions forum and look for my post "hdd fix" that tutorial will walk you through it...
