I read an interesting article today in May edition of XBN Magazine. A company called FriendTech (Taiwan Based) has launched two modded Xboxes. I am very surprised that they are pushing this so mainstream like. Even though you can find a plethora of modding info on the internet, it has always had an underground feel to it. Almost like everything is secret hush hush. Now, with this move it is almost like here we are Microsoft, what are you gonna do about it. What implications if any does anyone think this may or may not have on the modding community? For more info, I submitted a news article so keep your eyes out for it. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

Yes, this is rather interesting. Asain countries have funny copyright laws, so they can get away with murder half the time. Still, you'd think M$ wouldn't be too happy about it...

I was just in awe to see the advertisement. I wasn't taking into consideration about the copyright laws in other countries, but they are still marketing to the US. I would think that they would have export/import problems if it was infringing on copyrights. Now, never did they mention backing up or storing games. In their ad they only talk about FTP'ing audio and video files to the hard drive, and the supposed performance gains with the "turbo boost" feature. But, they were very quick to say that the machine would not be able to utilize XBOX Live services. The thing that bothers me is, what if it does take off? What if MS takes action? I know it wouldn't happen for quite some time, but it could really change the modding world....for better, or worse.
And, get this.. On their site it says US Patent Pending...HA, that is just too wild. How can you patent a friggin xbox? _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter
