I am trying to upgrade the hd in my friends xbox to a 120gb seagate model ST3120026A this is the third drive I have tried, the others were 80GB samsung and western digital.
My problem is when I power up the box it shows error06 even though the drive is locked with the correct password.
I have confirmed the correct password by unlocking and then locking the stock hd.
So my question is have M$ changed the bios in the xbox and screwed everything up for future softmods.
Oh, by the way, the Mfg date is Jan 2005
sjohn if you see this please please reply, I'm going mad wit this one. _________________ XBOX V1.0

What are you using to get the eeprom/hddkey? If you are using evox, use config magic, or vice versa, Not real sure what is going on really. _________________

I used evox to get the key and like I say I know it's correct because I have used this key to unlock and the relock the stock hard drive that was installed in the xbox when purchased.
Please help because I really, really hope I'm wrong in my assumption about the bios.
I've used the jumper to limit the drive to 32GB and still no success, but I can't find a DDO (Disk Drive Overlay) for Linux to try that out.
Config magic shows me the same hdd key that I have been using.
I really appreciate any help you can give sjohn as you're like my softmod god _________________ XBOX V1.0
