i went into EB yesterday to get an xbox to devirginize yesterday and the salesman asked me if i want a warranty.i planned to upgrade the hd so of course i said no.but he kept trying to push it on me, i guess he gets commision off of it, i kept refusing.he said"you could use it as a snow sled down a hill if you want to and as long as your under warranty you can get a new one".i felt like sharing a funny retort of my own so i said "what if i soft mod it" to which i was greeted with a refusal to sell it to me and a bad attitude.i know i was ahead of myself telling him that but it was just funny how he got so offended.so i got the manager and still made the purchase and told mr gates at the register it wasn't personal.
i know its not a technical post, just thought i'd share it with a relative audience.

Did you do your softmod yet? If so, and, it worked, what is the
manufacture date on your new Xbox? I just purchased one
dated December 20 2004, and, none of the soft mods I have tried
have worked. I have been using the UXE007 mod, the SID 007, and,
one I found called Waffle007. The UXE007 ( In French ) is one I
have used previously, it just doesn't seem to work on my newest
XBox.

Have you tried DJB's latest softmod installed v1.01 ??
If not go and download it.. Its available in all the usual places.
I tried SID 1.0, and, 1.01, both gave me an error 21.
I also tried UXE007 which has worked on other 1.6 Xboxes
for me, also error 21, Even tried waffletools with the same
error 21. My question was about the manufacture date,
the one I am trying now was manufactured 12-20-2004.
Given that it is so new, I was wondering if there were any
changes Microshaft may have made. Unfortunately, I am
at work, so, am not able to test out any thoughts until
later today.
