Ok so I only have a laptop computer these days and I want to put a 300 GB hard drive into my xbox. I noticed from all my reading that Hard Drive Manager v1.9 is a necessity and so is a PC so I can switch out the IDE cables to select the 300 GB drive I want to install in my xbox to be formatted correctly. What does a person like me do? Does anyone offer a service with the drive ready to go (plug and play) to help people out like me?? Or is there a tutorial, one that doesn't require me ripping my laptop apart to access certain areas...which I dont think is possible regardless since my laptop has a 640 GB SATA drive. Please help though?! I'm serious about getting this xbox in tip top shape. I just bought my new xbox off of ebay, it even has a Samsung DVD Reader and I also bought a Duo X2 GS modchip and now I am on the last step (an upgraded hard drive) of course I need my buddy to solder the modchip in (but that's as good as done). Thank you ahead of time guys for any thoughts or help you might have

If you are going to have the chip installed. You can directly put the larger HD in. You can use ConfigMagic or a AID disc for it. Search for the tutorials or ask your buddy about it.
I have to do this myself also one of these days.

Once he installs the modchip can I just place my new large hard drive into the xbox and just run the auto installer deluxe 4.5 disc to format it for E+F+G drive extensions (being over 137 GB, you know?) In other words I wont even need a computer just the disc and the modchip installed?

Please give me a link if you have a second to find it?? I'm looking too, right now.
The xbox is a v1.6 so TSOP'ing the sucker???? What do you mean...flashing the on board BIOS..I suspect?? Not possible with the v1.6 but I'm still interested in what you meant by your response. If I had a v1.5 xbox for instance what opportunity would that afford me (I mean I'll already have the modchip in so what would a TSOP flash do for me) please taken into consideration that I want a large hard drive installed without having the use of a PC since I'm on a laptop.
Please respond and thank you guys for helping me out.

The TSOP gives you everything the modchip would so if it ever dies you got a backup.its just a matter of connecting a few points on the MOBO which is why I suggest it for people with 1.0-1.5 as a safety precaution when installing a modchip

Col SPPV that is what I thought you meant. My chip is being installed using a pin header so there is slim to no chance of the modchip ever failing. Thanks though SPPV.

Yes, you won't need the computer for the install. Don't know how the Duo X2 chip works. But after install, you will get a (Flash)Bios menu. Check the manual for it or some tuts. By the way, you can keep only F drive if you want. Cause the F goes till 2TB. So no need for G.
With AID you can install your boot dash and all the apps and other stuff.
Thanks for the links. I thought they stopped selling the Xecuter chips.

I know a guy who still has a Xecuter 2.6CE for private sale. I could get someone a good price. He has a Xenium Ice also but not the gold one for sale. Message me if your interested. You can do a Paypal sale to protect yourself. He's a good dude though with many references

Why you went for the Duo and not for the Xecuter?

I bought my chip from a real website and I was talking to this friend I just previously mentioned about buying a Duo X2 GS and he told me how he wished he knew I needed a modchip because he had an xecuter 2.6CE and a Xenium Ice etc.... To tell you the truth the Duo X2 is a great modchip! It does everything I need it to. I think the best method for buying a modchip is to find the least expensive one that can be upgraded.....and of course I would hope it was made by a team who supports their products. For PS2 I loved the Magic modchip!! It was like $10 dollars and supported v1-v7!! It had the same amount of wires (21) to install as the "so-called best modchips available." In fact, it had less wires to install than other modchips people considered the best like the dms4 (30 wires) and matrix infinity had the same amount of wires to install. In the end man I have a PS2 slim with magic keys and the 3.8 coder discs and everything boots perfect and I'm happy

I have a similar question... If I were to softmod a xbox, can it have a large hard drive or am I stuck with the original HD? I too want to have a 300 Gb drive but do it with softmod. Is this possible? _________________ 10% VIP Discount (Coupon Code: HQ-VIP-001 ) - Signup for web hosting at www.TweakedHosting.com/clients/aff.php?aff=004 and earn the HQ network of sites recurring income!

Very possible and very easy. Download SID5 Pimped (any edition will work) from the USA VIP Server then follow this tut. If you have any trouble just drop me a line on skype and I'll guide you through. But its pretty easy I tried to make Pimped as noob friendly as possible.
