Hello.. I've been running my Xbox with evo-x as the dashboard for quite a long time. I decided to upgrade my version of XBMC and make it my dashboard. I used Auto Installer Deluxe v 4.52 and did the one click install setup with XBMC dash. Now when I boot my Xbox the original MS Dash comes up. Any suggestions or ideas as to what I might have done wrong?
Im guessing (wildly ) that the bios on your chip is old, any idea what you are running - does it show anything when it boots up ? (If you run the AID disc theres a bios checker app that will tell you)
Its possible that the bios looks for xboxdash.xbe instead of msxboxdash.xbe (or whatever XBMC`s default.xbe is called)
Can you FTP into the AID disc or possibly use the AID discs file manager and navigate to the xboxes C: partition and rename the .xbe file to xboxdash.xbe ? _________________

The bios on my chip is VERY old and upgradeable. I think I have one of the first modchips on my old box.
I was able to start the dashboard from AID disc within the menu that allows you to run the dash located on C. I was not able to get it to do this with XBMC loaded as my dash. I loaded UnleashX as my dashboard (because I read that it uses less ram) and was able to load it from the AID disc.
I was able to FTP into the XBOX and based on your suggestion I swapped the name of the two .xbe files. evoxdash and xboxdash. Now my Xbox when started will load UnleashX as my dashboard.
I've accomplished updating my software. Thank you! However, I would still like to make XBMC my dashboard..
Try running the bios checker app on the AID disc, it should tell you the size of the bios file you require.
Then i would consider updating your bios, you can do this through the AID disc - once completed it should have no problem locating the .xbe file for XBMC
Post back if you require any further info or bios recommendations.
Edit : There is a short cut creator for XBMC that will allow you to boot into XBMC even if its not installed in the root of C:/ - you`re on your own with that one though as i`ve never used it. _________________

Thanks again for all of your help !
I meant to post earlier that my chip is not upgradeable, I guess I'm stuck with this bios. Anyway, I tried using the following program with no luck. Xbe.Shortcut.Maker.1.0.. I'll get it figured out sometime..
You say you cant flash another bios to your chip ?
What kind of chip is it, any chance of a pic ? _________________
