Hey all, sorry to be a bother, but I really dont quite understand all these inner workings of an xbox. I have a version 1.0 box with a 200gb hard drive and a xenium ice chip. I have programs like dvd2xbox loaded on my hard drive but I can't access them. there are .xbe files and all, so i would think that it would work, but in evoX they dont show up under apps, system tools, or anything. There may be a file explorer in the xenium OS or in EVOX, but I havent found them yet. If anyone could give some advice on how to access the applications on my xbox, I will be very thankful. Thanks, guys.

Check your .ini settings. There should be a section that looks something like this:

Quote:
Section "Launch Menu"
{
Section "Games"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\games\"
AutoAddItem "f:\games\"
SortAll
}
Section "Apps"
{
AutoAddItem "e:\apps\"
AutoAddItem "f:\apps\"
SortAll
}
}

Make sure the directory is set to where you have the files located. Example:

In the E:\Games\ folder, put a folder called "xSNES" containing the default.xbe that runs that program.

I think you can also use XBMC to run programs from wherever they happen to be.

Do yourself a favor, I am assuming that you used the xbxo-hq 1.3 autoinstaller or a slayers autoinstaller.

You prepared your HD incorrectly.

Just start back from the beginning. Reformat large HD. Then Prepare Large HD with E+F+G support if your bios that is flashed to the mod chip allowed for a G partition, otherwise use the E+F support.

Then install your dashboards, then install your applications.

I have seen this happen many times.

If I'm not mistaken, spankey purchased his system as a premod, so he might not have done the installation himself if it was included already done. Where did you get your premod, spanky?

I would recommend doing what realmccloy said first, and if that doesn't do it for you, the file you want is more than likely called "evox.ini" and would right be on the c:\ drive or an obvious extension (If there's an EvoX folder, for example).

EEk..I would have thought a modder would have launched all of the apps before sending off...

I hope you get it going, I know how frustrating it can be to not have a working machine.

Nope, i did it all by my lonesome. and I didnt use an auto installer, I opened the xenium os v2.0.1 and under launch options i loaded my evox bios in a .bin format (the only format Ive been able to make work right.)

also, my dvd drive will only read games, and possibly dvd movies, havent tried since i modded it, but whenever i burn a disc for it to read it will come up as unknown, and if i launch dvd from evox (i think the only way i can launch a dvd at this point) the green evolutionX comes up, fades out and im back at my dashboard.

Glad to hear its all working, Xbox's can be very crazy machines, my friends 80 gigger went nuts, it would stop every 3 seconds and his F drive had disappeared.. lol, but a reformat fixed that also. Very Happy

Are you having overheat issues? I have installed quite a few 250GB and 300GB HD's and never messed with installing other fans. Furthermore, does your 1.0 have the extra fan?? If so, I really think you'll be okay as long as it's in an area that will allow proper ventilation on the sides.

Glad the reformatting worked, I kinda figured that was the case. I have seen that happen a lot. I use AI's all the time. I probably lean on the too much, but when you have four or five machines to bang out in two days, it's nice to have them.

later bud.
