I have the same problem with my xbox as MrBolloks. I had put in a new 160 gb HHD and used SID 5.0 and the Splinter Cell save to mod my xbox. The softmod worked fine until I tried to go onto xbox live and it gave me an error 21. I can't go to network settings or xbox live now without getting an error 21 and the softmod is gone.
I can play games and the MS dashboard (5960) is still there but every time I try to put the mod back on it just reboots the game and the light stays orange.
Will I have to use a Hot Swap or is there another way to fix this? I do have a copy of my EEPROM.

try to load up SID and ftp into your box and upload the files needed to hack it...evoxdash.xbe (any dash) just put it in the directory E:\ _________________

Thanks!
Will I need to create a boot disk to load up SID?

Well you'll need whatever game you used to softmod the xbox with. _________________

I've tried that but it just reboots the game but the light turns orange. Should I try to use an AID?

The hot swap worked!!! I had to break down and buy a $30 PC off of Ebay that had only IDE cables and ran on Windows XP.
I first tried to hot swap with an older PC of mine that ran on Windows 98 but for some reason XBOXHDM does not work with that version of Windows.
It was well worth the $30 spent to fix it!

Glad to hear you've got it working, it had been a while.
