well I just installed a x3ce into a v1.6b xbox
followed all instruction and checked all connections and solder points
under a 30x magnifier
long press power unit boots to ms good
short pres unit frags red /green
power and eject frags red/green
external switch is in place
banks 1,2 are on 3,4 off 5off
I have not loaded a bios yet
chip came with flash bios loaded but I can't seem to find it
if anyone has done one of these please help
does not boot to flash bios screen
lights are on on chip itself blue
lights on external switch red even when try enable but still red
I will check a 3rd time at solder connections and multimeter the only thing I can think of is the do wire
this was a pinheader install not solderless

I noticed that if you remove the alt. power going to chip the lights still come on (the chip itself)
is the alt power for the bios or something
power on the chip shuts off right away then turn on shuts off turns on
shuts off turns on then frags
will check with meter to see if it is getting power there

ok the alt power 5 v. has power at both ends so now Im stuck again

If its fraging then you got a bad solder point man, when you got it right it will boot to a blue screen saying 3.0.3 and you can then flash it.

That happened with my V1.0 X3 CE install. I didn't have the solder on the LPC melted down enough to go down into the cracks so it fragged. Thats what it is I bet you money. So just take your xbox apart again and try to get the solder down into the LPC holes better. _________________

trying to find pics for bypass
pin header installed great connections now
on the 1.6b after the pinheader install instructions show to place an a solder
or connection board over pinheader well that board is toast after uninstall
I am great at micro soldering with very fine wire only problem
I cant figure out where to jump one wire
any posting of a link to pics would help i will continue me search
I guess next time i will tape pinheader to one side of board like i did
but place that piece on then solder pin header in

trying to jump wires instead of using the 1.6 pcb rebuild for 1.6 only
I think I fugured out on the install guide the blue wire is jumping a pin and spot on the motherboard right next to it
and the do wire is on one side of board and jumper between 2 pins on other side will try and get back if it works will post pic to hopefully help someone
else

ok chip disabled xbox boots to ms dash
chip enabled blue light on external switch good
no video power light stays yellow
im getting closer but can't get it if anyone know which point might be a bad solder job from experiance please let me know

well i stayed up all night been rackin the brain for 15 hours now
the xbox does not frag but something still wrong
when i enable the chip the chip is blue(external switch) the hd upper right corner blinks
the lan in the upper left does not light
the power light is solid green about 30 sec to 1 min the green light turns solid yellow
I have taken the pin header out cleaned it up put flux on pins the placed in mother board then soldered nice and solid
turn mother board over and i can see solder on pins using magnifier looking
into pin header
I guess it must be a different solder point but I tined each point
tined the wires then connected (soldered) them
I am really thinking about taking the chip out and doing a soft mod but I really hate to do that cause I want to play online with some games
and I don't want to put a doux2 chip in from another box and risk soldering
to many times in it
cihip disabled loads to ms dash and plays great so I haven't messed up to bad yet

gave up on x3ce looking around different sites alot of people having same issue so i pulled everything out but the pin header (hope i can find a new one)and now will try to do a soft mod for 1st time i see links to tutorials from another post so will try but if i get stuck then i will ask

My Chip sometimes fails me when I move my Xbox Console around, if I take out my DVD/CD and HDD, Power-up to see if I have any lights coming from my X3ce Chip, if not then I flip with the switch's that most likely works if not then firmly grab the Chip can't remeber the pin header number right now, but if you stand in front of your Console it should be the top pin on your right that was giving me a problem. I do intend on just soldering the Chip to the pin header.
If you just got the Chip may be it is a no good chip see if where you got it from offers an Exchange? _________________ Support A Hard Modder!

I found out the solid yellow light on the front of the xbox is running linux
but not to see it on the tv screen?
oh well i learned how to softmod because of it

i have the parts needed for a 1.6 install as i bought a x3ce with all the toys and did not need the 1.6 stuff as my box is a 1.4 not sure how you can contact me i have a email but dont want to post it if you can find a way to get me in direct contact mabe i can ship it out to ya what could it cost me a few buck postage
i have the alt wire the pcb and a muli wire plug item 5 10 and 11 in x3ce.pdf
also have a new in box never used xapt3r soulderless install kit for the x3ce but i would have to get a little cash for that
