I've been on my box via FTP and the filing system is rather odd, but hey its only my first week in it. Very Happy

I was wondering what partitions are abosolutely needed and what are just junk?

I added some scripts and they created a Q one as well which I thought was funny, but I guess its needed now huh? Shocked

I was looking to pull the 8gig out and I've seen the drive list, but I was curious to know what the max size drives are for a soft moded Xbox. Unless I miss read somewhere it was saying partions have to be less than 137gig each. So could you install a 500gig drive and have 3 or 4 partions as long as they are 137gig each? I only saw the option to turn on F and G so how would you add additional partions for the Xbox to view?

I was on ebay and man drives are bigger and faster than buying just a simple little 100gig or 120 drive. I guess maybe a 250 or something if I can find one. A buddy was going to give me a 40gig and its going to be a crap shoot to see if its supported.

They are all needed, C, D and E the F and G are not but are there to add your games and backups.

Q drive will take up no space at all since its just a mirror of your F drive as a quick access for your XBMC folders.

The max size is what ever the largest lockable HDD is since the discovery of the 32 KB clusters size limits don't really come in to play any more, i would keep your F and G partitions under 300 GB each and the F and G are all the drives your xbox will recognize i think.

Hope that helps. Very Happy

Thanks Wes

I was just curious because when I goto install a new drive I wan't to make sure the right partions are the right sizes.

Anyways I'll start posting some in the Newbie section because I think thats where some of my questions are going to lead to anyways. As well I want to make sure they are in the right locations. Wink

All good man and xboxpartitioner will set the right size for C and E for you so all you need xboxpartitioner for is to add the left over (if you have any) space and 32KB clusters (if needed) to your HDD.

Wes,

Not to toot my horn for you, but man You and Sik_wid_it (and I hope he forgives me for butchering his name) have been great.

I decided with of course 10seconds of thought to go VIP. Very Happy

Ive always been a person to read, read and read and of course often I just don't understand something or the fear of brickin the Xbox was there. You guys have answered everything fast and to the point, which has been awesome.

As for that app I'll give it an install and wait for a new drive.

Thanks for your help and I will have more questions. Very Happy

Killer man nice to see the work here is appreciated and thanks for going VIP since its the sites only real source of income and is how the site stays running.

From time to time it will take me longer to answer posts but i do my best to stay on top of things and make sure this site is not like every other site out there ware you post and 3 days later your only response is some jerk calling you a noob. LOL

Enjoy and remember we got your back man. Very Happy

Welp I guess I'm going to be modding number 2 because of this little experience. Buddy saw mine and well as soon as I'm happy with mine and a new drive I'm off to help him with his. Wink

That tends to happen and fast, your going to end up like the rest of us and have a closet if not a room in your house devoted to this stuff. Laughing
