wats up everyone well i have 2 modded xbox's first 1 is about 2 or 3 yrs old and i had paid some1 to do it i always knew about modding but i was scared to try it on my own.. yes lol so i finally went through with it on a second xbox which is a v1.6b got a solderless x3ce as i was trying to install couldn't find the holes or there was something blocking the holes and i didnt have ness. tools to clean out so i figured let me man up and solder the damn thing went ok a little bit too much at the pcb rebuild finished up everything tapped the power button it went green the flashed orange about 3 or 4 times and stopped and it made a sound each time it flashed sounded like the hd so i kept reading and reading all i have been doing every night is reading up on the subject getting ready practicing soldering so alot of faqs said check solder points make sure everything is plugged in i did that and i noticed i soldered the d0 cable in the wrong place put it in the right place closed it up tapped the power samething so again i tried this time i re touched the alt.5v closed it up tapped the power now nothing happened at this point i was very dissapointed in my self so i kept rechecking ,trying, reading nothing so once again i checked the soldering and i dont know what to do or think its like the psu went out but i kept everything out and hit the power a blue LED comes on X3CE and when i let go of the power it goes off so please some one help with some advice, i ordered the duoX2lite because thats whats in my first xbox which is cheaper but i never had a problem with my first xbox. and so im buying another xbox this weekend but i dont want to give up on this one i want to fix it heres some pics of it tried to make em as clear as possible

Welcome to the XBOX-HQ, we hope you enjoy this and all the other HQ sites we have to offer.
Sorry man i don't want to knock your work, we all got to start some ware right but if i had to guess by the pics it looks like the huge gobs of solder might be touching each other or contacts its not suppose to touch.

If you haven't fried anything, you might be able to save it by removing all your soldering with some solder wick, and starting again. This may also be of some help to you.
It looks as if the joints may not have been hot enough for the solder to flow evenly. Check out this tutorial if you need some more pointers on soldering.
Good luck! _________________

im back thought i was coming back saying success but not yet >< well i de soldered and soldered back. i was done in about 10 15 mins when the first try it took a few hours, soldering i never placed the iron for too long just about a second or 2 enough for the solder to melt that i would place the wires etc. now the xbox turns on i almost exploded on my self i was so happy it went to the dash i turned it off to continue today now today my luck went south it still turns on and depending what bank its on it just might flash orange or green and red or just flash green itll just boot to the ms dash mostly the ms dash and thats it . on the switch itll usualy go red meaning disabled sometimes the hdd will light up blue n more rarely the lan will go orange or something.ive tried a bunch of combos with the banks tapping the power button quickly pushing power and eject nothing it wont go to flash bios and sometimes like i said itll flash a color now i was reading and it seemed a few people had almost the same prob but diffrent outcome 1 person had to solder a little better spreading more and another had possibly a bad chip so im not sure whats going on with mine,i just opened it up i re did the 5v cuz it came loose so now no more erros but no flash it just goes str8 to the ms dash and i dont even think its lighting up disabled or anything. im goin to once again put up some pics and see if anyone could help id really appreciate it but right now i think its either my soldering or the chip dont know everything turns on even the chip when i peek in it lights up blue inside but nothing going on other than that [img]http://www.fileden.com/files/2006/6/25/88727/P1000471.JPG

Looking it over and its hard to tell what the exact problem is, the two things i see is it may be from solder splatter or it could be a lack of contact as you can see gaps around the pin headers holes.

I would first try to melt the solder down better on the LPC holes. If that doesn't work then were looking at solder splatter problems. _________________

that was my next question how to remove solder splatter i was told just heat it with the iron and scrape it off , but ya i appreciate it im going to buy the stuff to day .now i got the duox2 lite i was thinking of installing it in the xbox later just in case this never works as a last try but thats if and when the splatter is gone hopefully everything will just work though, and anyway the duox2lite didn't come with the ness. wires so i need to find out what type of wires i need to go from the chip to the mother board so much trouble ><

I don't know who told you to heat and scrape the solder splatter but they are nuts, thats a sure fire way to trash the mobo.

whats up people will i ever get this box done before you guys get tired of me i dont know lol but uh i fixed the splatter tooth brush and rubbing alcohol worked like a charm ,got a new rebuild piece and threw out the old one soldered everything it looked to me as close to perfect can get only thing is with the d0 5v and the red wire on the back next to the d0(forget the name) half the tip is soldered to the point some of it would be sticking out not sure if it matter or maybe cut it down some anyway one everything was soldered i put everything together if anyone would like a pic il take some tomorrow and post em. now when i pressed the power everything lit up and the switch lit up blue so time froze for a moment could it be??! then it flashed green 3 times and did the christmas light routine and the switch is red(disabled)......so i was reading a post here and it could be a bad chip and traces?hm . this keeps happening when i try and boot up the chip but if i hold in the power button it boots to the m$ dash just fine i dont know guys this is growning very frustrating
