OK I have run into a problem with my modded xbox. It was modded with one click install from AID on XBMC. Been running fine and linked to my Router to run files via about a 40ft hard wired LAN cable off my PC to play them on my TV in a different room.
Anyway went to it yesterday and noticed the XBMC no longer communicated with the PC. Checking the router showed there was no connection shown (the light on back of Xbox for LAN connection is lit however ). I thought maybe the cable was faulty so unplugged the xbox and brought it to my PC and reconnected to router with a shorter LAN cable but still there was no light on my 4 port router to indicate it was connected. I went back to the TV to reconnect the xbox to it but now when it boots up at the initial Evox splash screen it just "jams" on the Evox splash screen after about 2 or 3 seconds. Also the eject button on the xbox will no longer eject but when pressed will cause the screen to go from the jammed evox image to a blank screen and the eject button will just flash (normal colour not red). Any ideas. Hard drive or chip at fault?
I should point out its chipped not a soft mod.

You said the eject button flashes the normal color, you are talking about green?

Yes it was flashing green.
Turned out to be the DVD drive. I slaved an old PC dvd drive and it booted up fine.
The Ethernet Port is still not working. I suspect it has received a power surge and has knocked out the Ethernet chip as well as the dvd drive power connector which is in close proximity to it on the motherboard.
Going to remove the motherboard to see if I can see any tell tales signs on the traces.

When the green ligth is flashing that means the dvd drive is tring to read something. If it doesnt stop thats cause there is a problem with it _________________

Cant see any damage on the traces (or around the NIC for that matter - but i know that is a goner) - my problem now is how do I find out if its the DVD Rom drive itself or the power connector for it that is at fault? A straightforward swap of the potentially screwed DVD ROM in a known good XBOX system would not cause other problems would it?

I put the dvd drive from the problematic xbox into another one and it booted fine so it must be the motherboard connector (as well as the spoilt NIC!).
Guess its time to buy another motherboard - how would I pair it with my existing hard drive (the replacement motherboard will not be modded unlike the one that needs replacing) ?
Or should I just buy a motherboard and hard drive pair?

Maybe in your country they are that price but here in Malaysia they cost about the equivalent of 80 euros minimum for a second hand xbox.
Anyway I managed to source a company in the UK that is sending me a motherboard and paired hard drive for approx 35 euros including shipping. So will install that and just soft mod it or remove the homebrew chip from my current motherboard and install.
I would have just bought a motherboard and used xboxhdm to format my current drive via hotswap however the only motherboard I could source separately was a v1.1 and that is not compatible with my power supply (I have a v1.4/1.5).
