the reason that im putting the fax on is cause its haveing the same symptoms as my previous 2...when i boot the xbox the hd clicks 3 times before it loads...does anyone know why or if this is normal, because it didnt use to do that before
Yep I run 500gb hard drive and in a clear case and it never gets hot. One thing you might try is snipping out the metal grill that is in front of the stock fan. It will help increase airflow. Also with the xbox that has the fan on top of it just to let you know it does help keep the whole xbox cooler by eithier blowing in cool air which circulates through the whole xbox or exhausting hot air which actually helps keep the whole xbox cooler. _________________

the fan on the top makes no difference, because the dvd drive and the hdd is in the way (its only cooling the metal on the top of them both) so its useless, and its better to put one on the bottom because it cools the important parts of the hdd.
Okay dude lets do a experiment and see if you are right about my fan on top being useless. Get yourself a saw or circular saw if you like and go on top of your house or apartment and cut a hole in the ceiling. Now go back into your house and turn on the heat. Now go back on your roof and put your hand over the hole. Do you feel something? Its called heat and that is because heat rises. So before you go shooting off your mouth or your hands in this case about someone's idea you might want to take a science class or two. _________________

Yep if your hard drive is running that hot then something is not right with your setup. You also might try cleaning that bad boy. Dust is the number one cause of electronics failure and overheating. _________________

Your bios is fine and i run XBMC as a dash so i set the temp control to 115 Fahrenheit and its ran well since day one.

See with XBMC you don't set a fan speed you set the temp you want it to stay, i love this option.
I think you can edit the xml to run the fans at a higher rate during game and movie play back.

Thats why it was overheating. If you have the stock 20% on the fan it will overheat, you need it to be at at least 50%. _________________

Ya, if your unsure just listen to the fan, it will sound louder if it goes up in speed. _________________
