I have soft modded my xbox and now im trying to put a larger drive in it. I use the tut on here http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-185.html and when i load xboxhd it says that it is looking for cdrom drive and cant find it. then stops and tells me to hook up the drive and reboot. Any help is greatly appreciated

I have two drives that are already soft modded. One is a Seagate that I formatted to access the whole 10gb and the other is a western digital. I would like to swap them out because I modded the case on one of them. I remember you saying something about having to stay with the same motherboard or something Wes. Can I just swap the HDs out or is there more involved? There is nothing but some old roms of each, but I can erase them if needed.

If its not the hdd that came in the xbox you can chimp it to make it work, but no you cant just pop in a diff hdd since it wont have the eeprom of your xbox on it.

yes. i did mess with it a little bit. i used this tut which i cant seem to find right at this second... but i made a boot cd with with xboxhd on it. I had burned copies of my c: and e: drives along with a copy of my eeprom. i got the drive formatted and all the data on it, then went to lock it and it said that it couldnt find the password. so i redid it and pressed enter when it said enter password. now i get an error code 9 on the xbox when i try to boot it up, and i cant unlock the drive.

Error 9 - kernel - HDD parameters (PIO/DMA/or size {debug}, certain size minimum is required for debug)
Not very common error, please try another harddisk.

no way to fix this drive? Its the one i was hoping on using. Im gonna stop by the local computer store today and see if i can find anything cheap to play with. i think it was fried before i started to mess with it. It used to be in my computer and i replaced all the drives with new ones a couple of years ago.
on a side note the pc when trying to boot up says that there is a primary or slave master drive error depending on the jumper. argh i thought i was doin good on this
