this is what I did:

so I taped as close as possible to the edge of the ring in the middle (without touching or going over the edge to the white plastic, so that its function isn't inhibited,
I used first black insulation tape, then normal transparent tape (cause I think that sticks better, I fear if it will be used a lot and it heats up all the time, it will eventually come loose... lets hope not...),
that's what was meant, right?
only the first time when I assembled the drive back together it got stuck,
since then tried many times, never stuck yet, so I'm pretty sure it's fixed
