Shocked
Ok, i need some help. My old Xbox (which was a Ver 1.0 by the way) Has crapped out on me. The power supply decided not to work agian. I say agian beacuse the first power supply shitted on me, then i orderd a replacement and that one died to. This is my second- or 3rd replacement- i just got it today and it also crapped out on me. Since i get a nice fat pay check tommarrow im going to go buy a brand new xbox. But here is my problem. Can i switch the hard drives from my old one to my new one (So i can keep all my game saves) And not be banned from Live? beacuse i really would like to keep my XBL account but i dont want to loose all my info on the other one. Will i get banned if i switch the had drives. Keep in mind that my old xbox is a Ver. 1.0- and the new one will be...well what ever version the new ones are. Can any one help me?

Is it the stock HD?? Or were you using larger HD's? The probem is, once you lock a HD to a mobo it's married to it basically until you unlock it. After my own locking fiasco, I only lock my HD when I intend on playing on XBL. I have a Xenium Ice modchip and can just lock right from the HD Tools. It's sweet.

What happened to me was I formatted and prepared my HD from someone elses xbox. Out of habit, I locked the HD in my ritual of formatting, preparing, adding apps, then locking. Once I put my machine together I ended up getting error code 06.

To get your game saves if your HD is locked right now, you pretty much don't have a chance. Unless of course you get another power supply. Then you can resurrect that one and use Xbox Saves MGR to get your game saves. You can get your XBL info too. You can find power supplies for 29.00... If it's worth it to you, grab one and bring it back to life one more time, then you can get your new machine. Once you have it back to life, you can also unlock the HD and avoid doing the game saves...but, as a rule of thumb, I often do my game saves with Xbox Saves Manager just incase of an unfortunate event.

If you also want, you can do an "Account Recovery" to get your new machine set up for your current XBL account. You just need to know some basic information like what phone number you used, what CC number you used, zip code....I think that is it. Once you input that info, MS transfers your account info to your new xbox and makes the old eeprom unable to ever connect to your account again.

Let me know if you have any more questions bud...

Hi Everyone, I just bought a chipped xbox v1.6 last week and I am trying to connect it to my PC with a crossover cable.

I have read numerous websites and have set my settings as follows:

PC
Static IP: 192.168.0.1
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

XBOX
Static IP: 192.168.0.2
Subnet: 255.255.255.0

Flashfxp
IP: 192.168.0.2
Port: 21
username: xbox
password: xbox

When I try to connect with these settings using Flashfxp I get this error:
Connecting to 192.168.0.2 -> IP=192.168.0.2 PORT=21
Connected to 192.168.0.2
Connection failed (Connection lost)

Any Ideas?

To me your settings look fine, but I'm no networking genius at all. If you are positive you're using a cross over cable, maybe try an updated version of FlashFXP, but that is a long shot.

You can also try SmartFTP

Hang in there, I am sure others will have some ideas for you!!

Thanks for the advice Smile

I will try smartFTP.

Do you think that my problem may be because I have an xbox v1.6?

Also I can change my ip address of my xbox through my xbox system management however I can not change my static ip address through my Avalaunch Dashboard settings....it is always set to 192.168.1.200

Any ideas?

You mentioned something right there, Have you tried to ftp into 192.168.0.200? That may be the correct address. If that doesn't work, you may need to see if you have any firewalls on the local area connection. This would include the windows sp2 one, and also anything like zonealarm. I know I can't ftp with zonealarm up normally.
