When I do have kids eventually I'm gonna work em up from NES to whatever is newest. That way they'll appreciate gameplay over graphics unlike the kids who wern't around for the "golden age" of video games. _________________

Yeah, I hate people like that. People who believe that if a game doesn't look beautiful, then it isn't worth playing.
2 of my all time favourite games: FFVII and Streets of Rage 2 (for PS and Sega Mega Drive respectively).
Not the greatest looking games in the world, cetainly compared to the latest PC, 360 and PS3 offerings, but enjoyable to the core.

i have an 8 month old and he is going to start the right way if he wants to be a gamer. he will play NES, then SNES first, then i will let him skip to whatever he wants, but those two consoles are a must in my opinion. gaming is a good way to unwind when you get older, well im only 26, but but when was a young lad, gaming was a way to get me wound tight, but its the opposite now, it unwinds me. its awesome to have a bunch of guys over and system link some halo, or something like that.

i totally agree....when i have kids they are def gonna start out with the older systems first then work their way up to the newer ones that way they develop a respect for the hobby and hopefully they will enjoy it as much as I do and it will be another way for us to spend time together and develop memories...sounds cheesy but hey can u blame me??? i also agree that gaming is just another way to relax....it calms most ppl down _________________

I was always a Sega fan in my youth, didn't like Nintendo. So for me, it was the Game Gear, followed by the Master System, Mega Drive (you prob know it as genesis), the Mega CD (the first cosole to use CD's!!) then after that, moved to PS.
Mind you, people today have a lot more choice. When we were young, these consoles were top of the range, there was nothing higher. Kids today have the choices of all the consoles I've listed, plus the 360, the PS3, the Wii etc.
