When you turn on the xbox dose it go right in to xbmc ?
If yes then,
The evox.xbe on your C:\ drive might just be a short cut to xbmc since evox.xbe is the first thing your bios will look for.
If that is the case just make sure when you use a diff dash to rename the old xbmc you dont reboot.
rename the old xbmc and then install the new build to the same place as the one you renamed and it will launch the new build on reboot.
youll be fine man plus any probs you got xbox-hq backing you up.

When I first switch it on it comes up with the evox Logo then goes to to XBMC dash.

Cool the evox xbe in your C drive is a short cut to xbmc so after the update it will boot right to your new xbmc.
GO FOR IT

OK went for it this morning and backed up my existing files. Ran one-click install and went like a charm - re-instated my previous network settings manually and it was able to find all my shares (I use ccxgui) straight away. Cheers Wes!

Then thares me close your eyes, make sure your zipper is up, lite your smoke and kick in the door fireing. lol
from now on its all cake man now when you up date all youll need is the userdata folder and scripts.
You might even want to read up on or even try useing the T3CH svn builds thay update about once a week or so.

Thanks for all the help so far Wes. Without an extra dashboard how would I go about updating to the latest T3CH build - can I do it via FTP? I also notice that a T3CH updater is included in amongst the scripts on my updated XBMC - any idea if it actually works?

I wold say that its allways a good idea to have a backup dash on the hard drive for things like updateing and just incase you slip up and XBMC wont launch.
I keep Avalaunch on the C: drive, but any dash will do, and then use X select so i can switch the dash from a reboot just so i can get in to the files if xbmc crashes.
With this set up you can still install with the XBMC/XBMC2 trick and then use your avalaunch to delete the xbmc folder and rename the xbmc2 folder.
I did give the updater a try but thay need to work on that one it will download it to your xbox, unpack it, but then you still have to move the userdata, skin, and script folders by hand and youll still need to use some other dash to move the XBMC folders around.
I hope thay come up with a better way for self updates but till then i seem to like the way i update by ftp and hand working the files.
If you come across a better way to update fill me in man, my way has a lot of steps but i never seem to slip up useing it, you know

Thanks for the info. I guess I can kill two birds with one stone if I grab the latest AID update so I can install another dash as well as get the latest XBMC! (17th)
