Sorry for not reading through all the other posts but I thought this to be urgent. Also, sorry if this is in the wrong section. I just recently bought a modchip (Xecuter 2.6CE) and installed it. I have been trying to get EVOX on it and completely failing. but that is not my problem. I turned on my xbox today and it wouldn't load and it was flashing red and green lights, which I think it has something to do with the eeprom(I have no clue what that is). The error code was 05.
THen I took it apart to see what was wrong and I noticed that from the last time I opened it, I had accidently put the long xbox screws used to hold the box together, right though my "ribbon cable", the one connecting the DVD drive and the Hard Drive to the Motherboard. it fixed it to the best of my abilities, fixing the wires and reconnecting them. I tried turning the xbox on, but it wouldn't. Then I checked the power cord going to motherboard and it was plugged in, I checked the wall plug, but i couldn't find the problem. So I closed everything back up and pressed the power button again.
It turned on to my relief, but when I got to the BIOS 3.03 pre-installed on my modchip, it showed the loading thing and then no menu came up. I then turned off my modchip and restarted my xbox. It started flashing Green, and only green this time and it showed the error code 09 now. I think that has something to do witht he eeprom too, but sonce I have no idea what this is, I need someone's help on how to fix my xbox. I am going to try and order a new ribbon cable to see if that does it, but I highly doubt it. IF SOMEONE WOLD PLZ SPEND THEIR TIME AND HELP A NOOB, I WOULD GREATLY APPRECIATE IT!!!
thx, JAY FYI, I own a MAC
update:
OKAY< I let my xbox sit for a while, then I popped in a new BIOS disc i thought would work. the it said this:
Boot!deReadData data not ready...
0: Drive not Detected
Boot!deReadData data not ready...
1: Drive not Detected
Unable to read HDD first sector getting partion table
Then the menu I said earlier that dissapeared, reapeared again. With the options to load a bios from HDD, disc, HTTp, etc.

You probobly just need a new ide (ribbon) cable. Your xbox cant communicate with the drives if its not making a connection. Theres some spare xbox parts here---> http://www.etech4sale.com/parts-cat_id-1026-page-0.html . Or maybe someone here on the forums has an extra one they'd be willing to sell you. I'm not sure if it makes a difference if its an xbox ide cable or just a standard one. You gotta be careful when your messing with electronics _________________

I'm not too mod chip savy, but I'm about 99% sure a new cable will fix it. It just seems logical to me. If I'm wrong, you can call me a dumbass _________________

Just buy a 80-pin connect cable, it works fine, and they have them at all computer stores. It also makes your load times 25% faster. _________________
