other than the add-ons.

I suppose I could say why do you want the xenium gold lol, all thou I dont use either one lol I would say do your research on what chip offers what. Like the reason why I chose the X-Chip is that the chip can hold many bio's and if something happens I can recover it simply by hooking up a usb cable to it among other things.
It depends really on user preference. _________________

The X3 also adds easy to switch banks(external switch), eeprom backups to the chip, eeprom replacement and backup from PC with FTP, scripting, and many built in functions in the 3294 bios. _________________

There is alot more, its very powerfull for backups and keeping the xbox up and running incase something gores wrong, and for look its also freat(not the chips looks lol the stuff you can change!!).

I'v "upgraded" my box to an X3 LCD CP setup and I must admit in Crystal it looks great. However:
1) It is a very expensive route
2) The install/flashing proceedure is complicated and not recommended for newbies.(worse if u have a 1.6!)
3) There are known issues - ie the 3294 bios "kills" the chip when you activate the password utility and the only way to fix it is to flash the eeprom with a utility now included in Aid 4.01 but has to be installed before it will run -?. One has to install the utility and then boot from CD and then try to boot your dash from there - it doesn't always work. Add to that the problem of drives not always reading properly.
4) If you have a 1.6 there are even more issues with flashbios 3.01/3.03 not working properly- be very careful.
5) I takes extreemly long to boot an X3 machine compared to other chips
6) For the amount of money I don't think it's a quality product (It sure looks it tho) and somebody really needs to sit down and fix all the crap listed above.
7) Reading the forums here and at Xecuter I note that there are an alarming number of X3's which are supplied faulty.
8) I have installed it on a 1.1 running 3294 and there is no way I can get it to boot Evox (or any other dash on any other drive) more than once.
I'v changed config settings but the only way to see a dash is to reset to default or erase the eeprom, on the second boot I'm back to a looping Rox/Flubber.
I also flashed bank 2 with M8+ and the problem is the same?
Lastly let me say I'v built about 50 DuoX2 machines and all have worked faultlessy and boot in 1/10th of the time of an X3. The chips cost 1/4 of the price.
When is Xecuter gonna get their act together?

Ok, I found my major gremlin after much swearing and sleepless nites.
Most install disks automatically install \Trainers to c:\.
If Trainers is at C:\Trainers, your X3 will boot once and not again - go to filemanager and move \Trainers to E:\ or F:\. It will then boot but Evox will no longer find the cheats.
I havent figured out how to get the cheats working again under Evox or XBMC yet.
Also don't activate password protection under X3 config or you WILL have to reflash the chip, luckily the util is now on AID - I had to search for an answer and the download.
All I'm saying is that the X3 firmware is buggy and needs to get sorted, while there are cheaper chips without bugs.
As long as you dont fall into these traps it will be OK _________________ 1.1 Crystal box, LG GDR 8163 dvd, 250G Seagate, Xecuter 3CE & LCD CP, AID 4.01

Sounds good guys,
I wasn't planning on using trainers for now but if so in the future i will keep that in mind..
no password setting i will touch this is the 4th warning i get so i'm shure there really is a bug in there....
Just thinking though ill be putting xbmc as dash..
Main thing why i am bought a modchip is that i want to backup my games to my hdd and i want to be able to buy american system games (ntsc).
Now i dont see a Games dir in the project mayhem dash while i do see it in the evoX...
Or do i have to look in the My Files section to find the games then?
Which drive could i best put it on? E, F or G
o yeah and boobs, thanks allot mate, got everything correct on my checklist now, ill post it here to see if the rest is satisfied.
Yes good that you told me to put the switch to on on off off off, i got that part but i didn't know that you have to set it NOT turning off xbox.
If you had not told me i had probably turned my xbox off then put the switch to it's correct position and would have probably cried or something
EDIT: Oops forgot to drag my checklist:

Checklist modding:
1 Instal Solderless Adapter
2 Instal Modchip
3 Turn on xbox to check if modchip works you will see flashbios screen with
switch setting on on off off off v1.0 to v1.6 xbox off on off off off if you have v1.6b
xbox but when you see flashbios screen change switch back to on on off off off
without turning off xbox before you flash it with x3 bios
4 Flash the Modchip with the latest X3 BIOS.(refer to FlashBIOS v3 word tuto)
5 Backup original HD using AID disc.(This is completely you choice, it really doesnt need to be done, but it would be ok.)
6 .UNLOCK YOUR OLD HARD DRIVE (do it in the X3 bios menu) then Take out original HD and put in the 320 gb HD
5 Put the AID disc in and format and prepare the new HDD
6 Install a Dashboard and any apps you would like.
7 Your done!!!

How do you define "better".?
I'd rather have a Toyota which costs nothing, starts every time and doesn't care if you sevice it or not.
Or you can have the Lambo which costs a fortune, won't start without a service but is koool to look at.
Yes the X3 has more features, but I'd need a lot of convincing to say it was better than any other chip, esp when so many of them are faulty in the box and Xecuter admits there are "issues". At 4X the price I'd expect it to be more user friendly than other chips, it is a good tool for expert users but a real pain for average Joe's (most of whom only wanted the LCD & Password utility). _________________ 1.1 Crystal box, LG GDR 8163 dvd, 250G Seagate, Xecuter 3CE & LCD CP, AID 4.01

this is wrong there are a number of ways to fix password problem
flash chip with older version of x3 bios and remove password
flash chip with x2 bios install x3 eeprom erace to harddrive (not eeprom)then run app to remove password
The ill informed will post incorrect info

So what your'e saying is that next time I have a flat tire, I should fit a wagon wheel instead? I bougt it to keep my 6yr old from playing Doom 3, pawn etc.
The Celica in question is in my driveway - hasn't had fluids, plugs, filters or pads changed in the last 2 years - what's your point? _________________ 1.1 Crystal box, LG GDR 8163 dvd, 250G Seagate, Xecuter 3CE & LCD CP, AID 4.01
