I'm a nOOb. The problem is...
I have a softmodded XboX 1 with XBMC as the dash. I have a Linksys WRTP54G wireless router and a Linksys WGA54G wireless game adapter that i want to use on the XboX. I cannot get them to connect although im sure i set everything right.
Router IP is 190.160.5.1
Game adapter IP 190.160.5.2
What should i set XBMC IP to?
What is DHCP, and if I need to use it, on what and how?
Do i need to ping the adapter to see if router is picking it up, and if i do, how do you ping?
Should i change IP's on the router/adapter?
Is there any other info you need?
Please be detailed in all explanations as so to avoid confusing me.
My goal is not so much for playing online, but to FTP to my XboX wirelessly.

Well the easiest way to check to make sure everything is set up right and all is to go ahead and turn on the regular M$ dash, then if you have an XBL option, turn it on (and make sure your adapter isn't hooked onto the ethernet cable, hell, unplug the thing completely). Then once you do that, it should bring up a troubleshoot thing, and there is an option called preferences or something, click it, then click advanced, (Once you get the troubleshoot screen I'd plug it all back in and give it a minute, but now is the last second to do so). Once you have it and gave the adapter a minute to "adapt" go ahead and click on a tab called wireless (should be there) and make sure it connects that way, then save your preferences and all, make sure to save it! And remember what you did of course... Then turn off the xbox once your back to the normal M$ dash and boot your XBMC. If it doesn't connect that way I don't know, not because it's not possible for more steps, but because I lack a wireless adapter.

I am now connected. My error was thinking that i could do it all through XBMC and did not realize i had to go through the M$ Dash.
