Depends on what kind of xbox your friend has. If he has a xbox 1.6 you'll have to use the EvoX M8 1.6 BIOS, as it is the most preferred for new systtems.
Apart from that I'd just suggest using either the normal EvoX M8 BIOS or X2 4981.06 / 67.
I released a BIOS-CD Pack which has about 18 different types of BIOS, mainly all different configurations of EvoX M8 and X2 4981. I'd really suggest having a look at that.
Lastly, you don't want to bother with old BIOSes unless you know you need a specific one for a specific system / chip.
Hope that helps...

If your chip supports a section where you can select a bios to boot I'm guessing so.
Some quick tips when getting BIOSes from my BIOS-CD Pack...
1) Open the RAR archive, DO NOT EXTRACT IT!!
2) Select the BIOS/BIOSes you wish to test, and only extract them (otherwise you'll have about 5 gigs of isos on your drive)
Now, if you want to FTP over your BIOSes instead of using a Boot-CD, you do this:
1) Open the ISO with WinRAR
2) Extract the file called bios.bin (which is the BIOS)
If you want to try multiple ones, just make sure you rename the file, or have them in seperate folders. Renaming doesn't hurt them.
Hope that helps...
