The softmod works 100% good, Now I need to get me a new HardDrive so I can store some games. I'm using a 120.0GB Western Digital (WD1200) HardDrive that I pulled out of my old computer, First i wiped the HD completely clean (deleted all the files off it) then followed this tutorial right here.
My Softmod installed Evox into and I went into System Config - Backup. to create the eeprom (I Think). Inside the E: folder there was EEPROMBACKUP.bin so I followed the tutorial and put it inside the right directory then copyed the E: and C: drives into the folders, I renamed it to "eeprom.bin" because it has thats what it the file name is, then ran it into the ISO, the ISO came out as 837MB so I cant burn it on a disc since all I have is 700MB disc's so
So now I removed some files, like music and some saved games then recompiled the ISO, got it to 538MB then I burned it and got into the screen, pressed "1" and then it said loading, then blacked screened and stayed there and didn't do anything else. So I'm here now and don't know what to do, I was thinking about buying a 10 pack DVD-R disc's which are 4.7GB a disc and then burning the 837MB ISO but I think it might just black screen still.
If you know any ideas what the problem is or have a different method to upgrade my HDD please let me know

Also, what version of xbox do you have? Cause if its not a 1.6, you can use chimp with a Y molex splitter, and it makes this job incredibly easy. _________________
and last but not least, I dont have a chip modded box to do that tutorial since it says "A Tutorial on softmoding an unmodded xbox with an upgraded hard drive, using an already modded xbox."

Code:
Auto-Installer Deluxe v3.10 Official Users Manual Page 37 of 50
Hard Drive Upgrade using a PC
Hardware Needed:
- A PC, a blank CD-R/W and a CD Burner
- Torx 10 + Torx 20 Screwdrivers (to open your Xbox)
- A Large HDD Software Needed: - XboxHDM 1.9
- FTP Program (FlashFXP)
- EvoX dash (can be installed as an app)
- DVD Decrypter
Steps:
1. First make a backup from your retail disk (C, E drive and your eeprom), you can use EvoX to backup eeprom (eeprom backup can be found on E).
2. FTP your backup data to your PC using a FTP program.
3. Unpack XboxHDM onto your pc
4. Put the eeprom backup in the xboxhdm\linux\eeprom folder, put C and E folder into the xboxhdm\linux folder and overwrite the ones already there.
5. In the root of xboxhdm is a file named 'make-iso-win', run this file and wait for it to finish.
6. It will make an .iso file. (You can burn this file with DVD Decrypter)
7. Take out all your hard disks in your PC and put the new hard disk (for the Xbox), make sure its primary master and first boot is CD-ROM.
8. Put the disk you made in the CD-ROM drive and boot your PC.
9. You will get a menu, now choose Option 1 (by typing “1”) and press enter to boot VGA console with Xbox-drive utilities (default). Type “xboxhd” when it asks you for a login. Another list of options will show up, choose option 1 again (the one that says “Build a new Xbox HD from scratch”) and it will begin to format and write the partition table etc. If you put your C:\ and E:\ onto the CD then when it asks you about them type yes and when it asks you if you would like an F select yes.
10. Reboot your PC (we are almost done)
11. Now for locking the hard drive. This time type “3” and hit enter to boot Linux with locking/unlocking utilities. Next, type in “lockhd –a”. It will now search for the eeprom on the CD and will automatically lock the hard drive. Now turn off the PC and take out the hard drive when it has finished locking. Put the disk in your softmodded Xbox.
You just upgraded your hard drive and can be used in your softmodded Xbox.
Try that if you only have the softmodded xbox. _________________

I did. Its similiar, but the one of afterdawn is outdated.
You probably have a 1.6, but your right on the cusp.
Try chimp 1.6 and see if you get video. If you get a blue or black screen with screwed up lines, you have a 1.6 and want to avoid chimp. If you get a nice blue screen with text in it and the linux penguin, then you can use chimp easily to clone the drive _________________
Can you please explain a few things to me, im kinda new at xbox modding
Whats a cusp?
and whats chimp? im guessing its a app for the xbox to backup the files? and where do i get it at?
and maybe a tutorial on what to do exactly?

Chimp is a program to clone a drive to a new one. Once cloned, it can be locked, and then simply replace the existing with the clone,
It can be installed from AID3.10. If you don't have it, I really recommend you download it as it it has a great .pdf with tons of info(I'll be quoting it below), as well as allows easy installation of apps, emulators, dashes, etc.
As for a chimp tut:
Code:
Auto-Installer Deluxe v3.10 Official Users Manual Page 39 of 50
Hard Drive Cloning using Chimp
Hardware Needed:
1. A Y power splitter (or use an external power source for the second HD, like another PC or external disk box etc.)
2. Torx 10, 15, 20 Screwdrivers to open Xbox and replace the HD
Software Needed:
3. Chimp (installed as an app)
Steps:
1. Open the box with the Torx 20 Screwdriver.
2. Use the Y splitter so both Hard Drives would have power when Xbox is on.
3. Loosen the DVD's IDE, but must still be bootable (it minimize the remove chance of IDE damaging as it is really not designed for hotplugging).
4. Boot Xbox.
5. Launch chimp.
6. Swap the IDE cable from DVD to the new HD.
7. Follow the menu (the first item must be run before others).
Xbox 1.6 problems?
If you have a 1.6 box and you can't see the Linux prog (graphics). In that case, you need to telnet into it, the menu will be same.
Sorry, and cusp just means "on the edge",its not a xbox term _________________
ahh alright, do i need to burn the aid to a disc? or when it says run chimp do i just run it from the downloaded file.
if i do, does it have to be a dvd-r since its a gig file?

The file it self is a gig, but I think that the .iso is less than 700.
Its much better to burn to a DVD-R, though, as most DVD drives cannot read CD-Rs very well.
Chimp can be installed from the disc and then run from your dashboard, but it is also available for download from http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/download-file-1194.html. If you download it, you can FTP it into your xbox and execute it from there. _________________
Alright, i Really dont get the tutorial that much....
1. Open the box with the Torx 20 Screwdriver.
i have my xbox open
2. Use the Y splitter so both Hard Drives would have power when Xbox is on.
dont get this? i connect my xbox hd to my pc?
3. Loosen the DVD's IDE, but must still be bootable (it minimize the remove chance of IDE damaging as it is really not designed for hotplugging).
k? :S
4. Boot Xbox.
the HD is connected to the pc tho?
5. Launch chimp.
6. Swap the IDE cable from DVD to the new HD.
7. Follow the menu (the first item must be run before others).

That is the complete tutorial.
The idea is to have both HDD connected to the xbox at once, and to copy the info from the one to the next.
However, there is only one molex power connector in the xbox, and it needs to power the original drive. So, you can do 2 things: connect the xbox HDD to a PC to power it (no IDE cable at all) or use a Y power splitter to change the 1 xbox power cable to 2, one for the old drive and one the new.
Hope that clears things up and makes it clear what to do. _________________
Alright that made a little more sense, Heres what im think to do right now.
Drive A = Xbox's Orginal HDD
Drive B = My soon to be new xbox HDD
Drive C = my PC HDD
Drive D = My backup HDD that i use to store files on in my PC.
Unplug my current HDD's (C and D), then plug in Drive B to be a master drive, then plug in the other ide cable into Drive A, then power the xbox up, then run chimp?
and i FTP chimp into my E:\apps folder right?
Also,I found out that my version is 1.6, I loaded my eeprom in useing the file Auto.Installer.Deluxe.v3.10.Xbox-Hq\Tools\PC Tools\LiveInfo.exe,
