Back in the gloomy days of DOS 5 and daughter board based processers, the chips used to come loose with heating an cooling of the pc, a symptom my xecuter 2.6 chip now displays!!!
It is the solderless raptor which is the culprit here.
The spring loaded legs seem not to sit low enough to keep a constant connection with the board, and any movement and that include the heating an cooling process creates chip creep.
I then have to open the box and press the chip down to create a connection.
I have even tried to place a non-conductive object on the chip so the dvd presses down, stinky i know.
The only real thing i can think of is to either add a bit of solder to the board to raise the profile of the connection, or to file the top of the holding screw down to seat the raptor lower.
Anyone ever dealt with this?

you can always solder the adaptor legs to the via's, but if you're going to do that, I would suggest soldering the pinheader in the lpc instead. _________________

Do you know which solderless adapter you have?
An alternative would be to lower the temperature in the xbox. You could turn up the speed of the fan with your bios, or even add additional fans to keep the temp down. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

I have the xaptr 3.
if i push the adapter down i can feel the pressure of the spring legs against the board, but to look at it from a horizontal angle, its doesnt sit level with the board. i have check the screw fitting and that is flush, but the more i tighten it (eek dardnt go too far) the more it forces the furthest end of the xaptr up.
Its not a temp issue, rather than a physical thing made worse by movement, the connection is tenenous to say the least.
Early AGP cards had a strap to secure the cards, i reckon i may have to adopt a similiar thing,only there is no way to secure it.
Or i may have to add a small bezel to the back of the xaptr securing screw to tilt the head of the xaptr downwards at its farthest point.
I love a challenge!!!!
