Is there a way to upload iso files to your xbox and play the iso file? rather than burning a disc?

Yes, there are several programs which will read the ISO on your PC and extract on-the-fly to your Xbox. Here's 3 programs that will do it for you:

* C-Xbox Tools
* Craxtion
* Qwix

Not long ago there was a brand new tutorial added on how to use Qwix, so I'd suggest using that.

If you're asking if you can FTP the .ISO to your Xbox HDD and play it from there, the answer is no. Follow DJB's advice above.
