Thought that you might like some feedback on the temp changes after installing a cooling kit. Changes below read before and after from the dash... non-game play. Xbox was just sitting after booting.
MB decreased 5 degrees F
CPU decreased 15 degrees F
HD decreased 10 degrees F
I have utilized 300GB HDs in machines while never bothering to change fan speeds and never have had any heat issues.
You can easily increase your fan speed if you have concerns and that doesn't even require opening up your machine. It's all done through bios configs.
If you want, you can add the heatsink or even do a fan mod. 80mm fan can be trimmed easily to fit (also use two zip ties), or you can just do the poor mans 12v fan mod by soldering/attaching the proper fan wire right to the bottom RF Shielding...lol. _________________ Xbox 1.4

HDD 120+ I think that way to hot for a HDD
CPU up to 151 F OUCH!!!!!
Now I took out the stock fan put in a 80mm
stock fan is skred on top of the case on top of the HDD spot. and there both 12v's
And I put an other fan on top by the HDD but it also on top of the cpu I had to do some cutting inside and out.
But it keeping it cool..

your temperatures come in Farenheit? in what dash? XBMC?
Well, i want to design a ventilation system for my xbox, to keep it cool internally. J8994's xbox concept is amazing with the little piece from a computer case on the top, in the jewel area. Under it there is a fan which draws air out. I have been thinking and i agree that adding an extra fan would do the trick of keeping it nice and cool. However if you flip the fan the other way, it will draw the air inside, and as we all know, the back fan pushes the air out. I dont know how J8994's xbox fan is (whether it draws air in or out). But keeping a fan that is bringing air inside and another fan is drawing the air outside, it would make a nice ventilation system for the xbox. If we modify this idea, and use this kind of fan , which is basically three fans in one. We would place this on the right side of the xbox, the power supply side, to draw the hot heat out. And if we put these on the other side as well to draw the air inside, it will help the xbox a lot. The concept is basically that the nice cool air from outside would enter the left side of your xbox, and be drawn out from the right side. This would create better circulation of air inside the whole xbox, keeping it nice and cool, and increasing its life. Air would be drawn from the left side going over the video chip, over the circuit board, over the hard drive, and be drawn out from the right side, where the power supply is, which creates quite some heat in there. I am thinking of doing something like this to my xbox. If anyone has any comments, concerns, or suggestions, or if you have seen something like this before, please POST HERE. Thanks. Hope you guys like this idea. _________________

Yup, air in air out is the cornerstone of ventilations systems if your using an actual cooling system. So installing an intake on the left and exhaust on the right works perfectly.
Keep in mind though that you need somewhere for the air to pass through. If any serious mods have been done there may not be a clear airflow on all sides of the xbox. _________________
