Im Using xboxhdm 1.9 to lock a hdd and when i type in "lockhd -a" i get the following

Drive on Primary Master is Frozen. Cannot Change the Security Status of a Frozen Drive. Try to disable 'automatic detection' on primary ide channel in your PC BIOS and reboot
Ive tried changing some settings but i havent found "automatic detection" anywhere in the bios.

make sure the HDD type is not set to auto. the HDD settings should be set to user

Type is set to user but the other options are all set to auto and i still cant find the auto detection

Completely remove the drive from your BIOS if you can. You don't want it detected in any way, shape or form, automatic or manual _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

it doesnt detect it unless its plugged in before i boot up the pc ive tried booting linux then plugging the hdd in but it does recognize that the hdd is there.

Are you trying to hotswap or upgrade? Cause unless your hotswapping it should be plugged in first. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

K, then it should be connected before the pc is turned on, and the bios shouldn't find any HDD at all. That should clear the frozen status. _________________ Hotswap|HDD Upgrade|X3 Guide

how do i make sure the bios doesnt detect the hdd?

Used Chimp To lock HDD Using Motherboard, Just had to softmod and everything on the hdd was stil there
