Turn your chip on, or boot with AID. Follow the instructions I gave you in the VIP ticket.

if it's loud, and if it sounds like clicking, the drive is failing. There's ways to recover HDD's from those failures, but usually, the best thing to do is contact WD and see if they have an RMA program. See if you can't trade that one in for a diff one that works.

I'm kinda wondering, though, what the hell would you have done to a WD to make it fail, lol. Those things are tanks.

An RMA program is something a company offers on newer model drives. You call them up, tell them that your drive is failing, and if you're still under their warranty (they'll check by the serial number and Manufacture date) they'll tell you to send it in, and they'll send you a refurbed one, usually at no cost to you. I know Maxtor did it, before they merged with Seagate, with two of my drives, and they were both bought from TigerDirect, having nothing to do with Maxtor directly

Call up WD first and see what's up, www.westerndigital.com to grab their support info. That should get you in the right direction.

I figured the best HDD company in the world still had their RMA program. Yeah, most drives are under RMA coverage for like 10 years or some chit. It fails, you call up, they say "what's your problem".

I had two drives fail in a row from maxtor. The second time the guy didn't believe me, he thought I was scammin. I put the phone up to the HDD and he heard the "Click click click" and was like "Chit, it's not supposed to do that. We'll send you a BRAND NEW drive" Iw as like "yeah, bitches!!!" lol.
