I installed a softmod and then needed to take it off, i called 18004myxbox and got the reset code thinkin this would do the trick, but it didnt. After i did this i began to recieve the error 21 message and they could no longer help me. The xbox will still boot games and i tried to update it online or offline and it just goes back to code 21. I need to get this fixed by the end of tonight because i can get a bonus trade in value on my xbox. PLEASE help me.

there's many solutions, but it might require you to open your xbox.
in the other hand, use the game you used to install the softmod, and if that works, well, you got your self FTP, this way you can ftp all the files back like retail.

when i reset the thing it deleted all files on the hd. I cant acces the dashboard to copy the linux profile over so splinter cell doesnt see the profile. I can still load games but cant update them or nething of the like. i would prefer to not open it since i would like to trade this in at ebgames towards my 360.

I am willing to open the xbox at this point just to regain functionality and i can still possibly sell it to one of my friends. So i already got it open, and have alreadu gotten the hard drive out, but i dont know what i need to do. Can someone please help me.

thanks much this site has been the most helpful so far in my quest for fixing my xbox. Trying it shortly. Getting all the things first. i take it get xboxhdm by the usual ways. I might sound stupid, but what is the pause/break button in the windows XP bootup. if it helps i have an asus mobo and pentium chip

ok... soo i been trying to hotswap my hd but its still locked and i dont have the eeprom.. ne ideas? Thanks.

ill email pirrup our softmod administrator who wrote this tutorial and see if he has anymore information for you..
I believe you will have to have your hdd unlocked to be able to recover but im not a softmod expert so just wait for more info.

Pirrup ur a god! I did it... it was a matter of the timing of the ide switch.. no eeprom needed i liked that. the 8 secs part threw me off. just look at the light. Then i found out i burned the cd wrong and had to reburn the .iso .
