Quite clearly, Pixar's latest animated movie release, The Incredibles, lives up to its name. Unfortunately, the game version follows its own tradition - the one of a great movie license getting a rush job game treatment.
One thing that The Incredibles game does is redefine the term. Even though it's rated Teen, it treats you like you're an eight-year-old who's never picked up a game controller. If you're supposed to use your superhuman strength to open a huge door, you'll get prompts that tell you exactly how.
It doesn't just do this for the first couple levels. You get "guidance" throughout the entire game. And despite this strictly linear gameplay, there are still times when you'll be confused as to what you're supposed to do next. That just doesn't equal a fun gaming experience by any stretch of the imagination.
The game does have one redeeming quality. While it follows the storyline of the movie, you'll get about 15 hours of gameplay. In other words, you'll see a lot more of Metroville than you did in the theater. However, if the movie left you wanting more of the superhero family, wait for the special feaures on the DVD because this game is anything but heroic.
