For the longest time I have been trying to find a game that effected me like the first time I played "Resident Evil". Silent Hill didn't do it unfortunately, so I was still searching. For years developers have been trying to scare gamers with dark games that incorporated violence and bloody scenes. "The Suffering", is the real deal! Finally a game that not only has a great storyline with multiple endings, but shear scare factor.
The first time I played this game was late at night while all was sleeping. So, I decided to put headphones on to keep noise minimal. The sounds incorporated with very eerie creatures/monsters made me actually jump at times. There are always ambient noises, the game is rarely quiet. Controls are a piece of cake and camera angles are masterful. Even after finishing the game I wanted to play again to see if I could spawn a different ending.
The graphics are good enough to satisfy most gamers, and the weapon selection is awesome. The choices to play in first person or third person views gives even more to chew on. Immersion is inevitable. Stock up on flashlight batteries, lock the door, and be glad this one came around.
