Holy cow! This is by far my favorite football game ever made. Madden came out around the same time, and I have played them both a lot, but I found NCAA to be more rewarding.
A lot of the reviews on this game are split, though I do not see why. What NCAA 03 was to the original is what this is game is to 03. There have been great improvements made, and it is incredible.
The most enjoyable part for me is the heisman race. You start out in a scout camp (at the end of your senior year of high school) and depending on how you play, effects what schools offer you scholarships (but don't worry, you can "walk on" to your school of choice). You take this character all the way through college and by the time he is ready to graduate, if you don't want to split up with him, you may transfer your character to Madden and take him from Rookie to All-Star level on Madden.
Along with having all of the fight songs, it also has very accurate details for the stadiums. I live in a college town and the very mountains in my city are behind the stadium. I have checked with a great detail of attention and been able to verify that the stadiums are authentic.
The rosters are not correct, but some kind person has taken the time to make the correct roster for the entire league and placed that save on xbox-saves.com (this download is a must).
There are only three ways I can possibly image the game being improved from here:
1. Actual coaches (instead of the standardized characters).
2. The anouncers are great but they say most of the same stuff every game (it would be nice to have a little more variety).
3. System Link. I dont know why but the NFL Fever games are the only football games (to date)that support system link.
