I have a question about the 1st steps. Do I unzip the ms-c files ? Where exactly do I add them? Are they supposed to overwrite other files? Can you please be more specific? I did everthing and it worked but when I got to rebuilding the drive part it said there were no files on the disk. Please reply, timing is of the escence on this one Thanks in advance

thank you for this tutorial PIRRUP but i have a couple of problems....
i followed the tutorial up to step 11 (menu for the LINUX cd) i type in option 1 and it loaded the VGA console (i think) and it froze at "Floppy Disk Type 1.44mm"
i waited 5 minutes for it to continue and nothing happened:(

when i try to back up the MS dash in SID 4.5 it says, "modded files found" So i can install the softmod. and i also cant back it up becuase i have a service 21 error becuase i followed some fags suggestions. can anyone help me?

I tried the hotswap it recognizes the xbox hdd once i boot up the linux program. then when it says hard drive is locked.
I try and unlock it using the linux unlock option but when i choose an option it says don't know how to set password???
i know the password to unlock my xbox hdd it's xbox by default.
then i tried the dos version and entered unlockhd.bat to unlock xbox hdd and it worked i entered the password then it says done then i don't know what to do after that in the dos version as i forgot commands to open folders in dos all i know is at a:/prompt i enter dir and it shows all the folders etc. please can anyone help me in either dos or how come it's not unlocking as i keep my pc ide connected to the xbox hdd then power on xbox then pc and load hbhdm 1.9 and it comes up saying xbox hdd is locke...??

You need the eeprom of the box you are putting the drive into. "xbox" is the ftp password, not the locking password. The eeprom is what xboxhdm uses to lock (or unlock) the the drive. _________________ Xenium Ice 2.3.1 OS

Cancel everything i said I figured it out.
I unlocked it by unhooking the power cable to the xbox dvd drive then when xbox boots up it says error 12 which means no dvd player etc but at this point on it's unlocked! woo hoo!!!
I ran the linux program and my xbdash is back and i can re-softmod it again.

Ok i followed the tutorial and it seemed
to work.... downloaded the dashboard etc. and made an iso...
The process went smooth.
It restored the C: and E: drive, but not the F:, it did not
asked me to do so, could that be it?
The strange thing is that when I shut down the PC and put the HDD
back in the xbox, the error 16 appeared again.
Please help. Don't have the eeprom for this one.
Tried the swap with two xboxes to eliminate
error 16, but that did not work and my other box just froze
in the slayer prog. and could
not relock the hdd again. Rebooted and got a error 5.
SOB thank god I have a backup of that one and the eeprom.
How do I relock it?
Also: Since I have gone through the process of formatting the drives etc. have i then lost my eeprom?

I try to do hotswap again but unfortunally it goes bad
Now the xbox give me an error 09!!!!!
I can do this procedure to recover my xbox's hd???
