Make sure you check the harddrives tab at the top of the screen to make sure its lockable before you buy it. _________________

can you use SATA AND PATA I know they dont use the same cables but will they both work and does only the model numbers listed work like if I get a seagate 250gb with and it has model no# that isnt on list it will not work??

Sata drives will work if its lockable but you bottle neck the speed cuz you got to use a sata to ide tip.
And not all lockable hdds are listed thay are just the ones that work for sure.

thanks wes for the list I got seagate 250gb barracda 16mb cache for 69.99 now lets hope I can do this right and not destory this one if I have the backup disc from xbox with everything on it where do I start?

wes everything I have is on a backup disc the old hdd is dead so do I follow the same thing or do I skip to where you hook up the hdd because I already have it on a disc

So you just want to make the partitions and put the backup info in the right place on the hdd.

If you built the backup disc with xbox hdm then yes.
If you made the backup with some other app youll need to check and see.

Maybe I'm to optimisic but I'd say that drive has a chance unless it's locked with a code ya don't know. There was a trick posted on here (buried) where you take an xbox that is modded and works, load aid with it, then unplug it's hdd and plug yours in while aid is up. The xbox will unlock the drive and start reading it. Now just do what you need to while the drive is open. Worked for me when I couldn't figure out how to get back into the drive once it was locked up. Maybe?

I think you talking doing a hotswap. But I couldnt do that I tried but hard driive was shot got a new hdd and thanks to everybody at HQ im back up and running
