I have a softmodded v1.6 xbox. Am I able to download the games that I own onto a network drive and load/play them from that drive? I have a 108MB/s super-G router and the xbox will be wired directly to the router.
If so, is there any special procedure/software I would need to do this?
Note: I own the games...I just want to remove clutter (much like have done with all of my CDs)
Thanks for your insight.

I don't think you can, but you if you could loading almost anything would take a while because the transfer times would be slow. _________________

dartht33bagger has it no you cant do xbox games from the network but i did see that you can run apps, emulaters, roms, and that sort of stuff from a networked set up. But like dartht33bagger said you will lose speed but if space is more important to you then speed try moveing your apps, emulaters and roms to the networked drive it might clear a few MB. or even gigs.

you never know .... Since my hdd is only a 40 gig, what I do is only leave the games I play alot on my hdd. Then, if I pick up a new game or start playing an old game again, I just rip it onto the drive. The only game I keep on my xbox all the time is MVP Baseball since I have a ton of mads and updates. _________________

Thanks for the insight everyone. With my v1.6 softmod I'm not able to get a new hard drive installed (only major disadvantage I see). Guess I'll look into doing a TSOP mod and hard drive replacement with the v1.0 xbox I just bought for my bro.

I got a 300 in mine and still got like 65 or 75 gigs free space even with like 85 xbox games, 1000s of roms, more apps then i need, 4 dashs and then a ton of pics music and videos.
300 is a nice size drive for an xbox.

I thought with a softmod of a v1.6 xbox (using MechAssault game save), I am not able to upgrade the hard drive. Am I mistaken? If so, how would I go about doing it (without buying and installing a mod-chip). I have a 200GB and 300GB drive I could put in it.

You would use Xboxhdm or chimp to build the new drive. All versions of xboxes can have new HDD put in, softmodded or chipped. _________________

Thanks for the excellent tips! Because I don't have access to a desktop computer, xboxhdm would be hard to do, however chimp should work great (http://www.geocities.com/bononochimpanzee/clone.html). With my v1.6 I will just need run chimp with telenet via my laptop.
I would like to use a 200GB drive. Would something special need to be done if I use a drive of this size (vs say a 100GB drive)? I recall reading for some other hard drive swaps a 200GB+ drive requires a special BIOS, but perhaps this is not relevant for Chimp.
Thanks again for all of your help! You guys rock.
