^^ i'm gonna get this out the way (even if subject is relatively old)
..........
the xbox is without a doubt the WORST console for when it comes to "usb/sm" compatibility!
1, it's a GIVEN that the media must never exceed 4g capacity!
2, good luck sourcing any compatible usb/sm cards. i have a SHITLOAD of less than 4g cards (mainly 1g and 2g) and they all EPIC failed on me! (i have the cruzer 2g and the POS isn't compatible but it's 4g counterpart is! WTF is wrong with that picture?)
3, rumor has it the "psp's" are compatible but AGAIN, that's down to the "ms" inside it, i don't have any compatible memory stick duo so my psp decided to shitcan the xbox in EXACTLY the same way as...
4, SD to usb card readers!
i read they have the BEST hit vs miss ration but as above, i've NOT encountered any!
when i first tried my SD to usb reader with a kingston 2g class2 card, all i got for my trouble was a BRICK!
that's right, i BRICKED my xbox for trying and i was forced to rebuild the hdd from scratch, good thing i had my eeprom.bin or that console would be junk!
when i was at ***, i made a thread alerting the users to take great care when "crapshooting" for the stars!
i NEVER had a payoff but utter MISERY for trying! (never again, at least i still kept the 8m mc's for the exploit)
...............
1, usb cards just plain never worked for me, did nothing to the console but as a media, it just gave me the finger!
2, SD to usb readers on the other hand, that caused me NO end of trouble and without the eeprom.bin, i was making BRICKS, LITERALLY! SO BE CAREFUL!
.........................
there's a good amount of those that have 101% luck with them but from where i'm stood, that means jack-sh*t!
the proof as they say "is in the pudding" and all i was eating was the ceramic bowl while it slashed my mouth apart! (so to speak) so when trying usb medias, make sure they're 4g or less, it's the RULE of which to base your tests off as i did!
if it works A-okay, i'm happy for you, if not...don't say i didn't warn you so! _________________ to all my friends... farewell and all the best to future prosperity... and remember, be excellent to each other!

When I get back to Kamloops I'll send you a USB and MC reader that works Amiga. They come in very handy, especialy when FTP isnt an option.
I seem to have exceedingly good luck with the USB lol. Ive got a shit-load of 2GB USB that work great, and still have a couple of extra ChipsBank readers.

appreciated, it REALLY is!
i'll need to setup some sort of "PO-box" as i'm using a "shared entrance" where all the post gets directed at, the postal services are just as crooked so...
............
in any case, thanks again for the GENEROUS offer, i'll get on some sort of "package receiving safety" before you send item, couldn't forgive myself if it doesn't reach me courtesy of the UK postal services!

Amiga had a SD/USB adapter that didnt work. I have a shitload of SD from 256 to 4GB by pretty much everybody on the market. They ALL work in my ChipsBank reader. You cant brand hunt USB. Ive no shitting had 2 USB bought same day, same store, same brand, same size, 1 worked other didnt. Theres billions of revisions to the memory controller on flash drives so its all a crap shoot. WHere as SD appears to be static in its controller revisions. Problem becomes the adapter so its like finding a USB drive all over again. Only brabds I can stamp are as USB/SD adapters and thats ChipsBank, PSP and BlackBerry
Thanks for the reply. So your experience tells you that SD memory cards DO work, the main issue with them comes from using an SD to USB adapter then?
I'd love to be able to nail down a brand of SD to USB that is reliable and work in tandem with the female usb to xbox controller adapter. Then people wouldn't have to screw around with soldering right?
