the adapter i have for my X3 is a X-addon. it has every pin...now, i took of pin 16 because that hole is blank on the X3 chip, but i do also know that pin 4 is not in use...do i need to take that one off also or can i just leave it? its not blanked on the chip, but i didnt know if i left it, it would mess the chip up or anything?
thanks...got my control panel and x3 chip...just got to get it all put in tonight.

the place i bought the chip from was out...and this one has been used with the X3.
they linked me to a tut on using this adaptor with the X3 chip. that hole on the adaptor has no power or anything going to it.
the d0 setup on this adaptor is alot more install-friendly. it requires no shaping or bending, etc...

To answer your question: when doing the pinheader install, you remove pins 4 and 16 from the pinheader. So I see no problem with removing it from your solderless adapter.
So pull both 4 and 16, and you will be fine _________________

i just moved 16 and left 4, because i noticed on the adapter that pin 4 isnt connected or linked to anything anyways.
i was asking because i dont have the net out at my house in the BOON DOCKS (we moved recently) and i want to be clear of everything when i go to do the install. it all worked out good though, just had simple bios flashing problem.
my chip will only allow flashing when the light is red on the chip, not green. its flipped. if i try to flash it when its green...it says unknown flash, halting.
weird.
