A friend has a soft modded xbox that died. He thinks the 200 Gb hard drive is still good and has asked me to move it to a different box. Is this possible? Can some give me steps or point me to a thread where this si discussed?
I usually use AID to mod boxes and Chimp to upgrade hard drives. However, I have never attempted this. TIA

The most painless way to do it would be to chip the xbox.

I have a chipped box in my inventory. Can I just pop in the new drive or is there something special I need to do?

As long as the chip bios is set to launch the dash xbe then yeah you can just pop the drive in and the chipped box will read it just fine since the chip makes the xbox ignore the eeprom code.
