hi
got an xbox that has the disk damaged problem. it is a samsung drive. its probably the lens and would need a replacement. how would i fix this problem and what equipment would i need?? _________________ _______________________________________

You need to buy a new laser. Cost, could be as high as 80.00 from what insane prices I have seen.
It's a tedious task. You could very well buy one and then end up not being able to handle it.
the xbox repair guide has great images and directions, even video of a lot of repairs including replacing the laser, or lens as you put it.

I'll look around for the best deals on Samsung lasers and see what is out there.

I agree... buy the Xbox Repair Guide.... you may want to consider the bundle if you own more than one console type. I have some Xboxs, a Game Cube, and several Game Boy Advances... I decided to just purchase the bundle. He also has PS2, which I don't own.

If it wasn't for grabbing that guide, I probably would have never got into modding...at least not as deep as I have. I was too afraid to solder until I got that guide.
For those who want to get into modding, or just save themselved money and not have to pay people to do things..it's a great asset. Also, once you buy it, you can bug Kris for support..HA....JK of course. Kris is a good guy and really knows what he is doing. We talk from time to time and he has definitely helped me when I have come across a technical issue that I myself cannot resolve with tools on hand.
There is another guy that is real good, especially with Xenium chips. He goes by Cap269 and you can find him over at TeamXecuter and Ozodus. He has a killer Xenium Ice PDF manual. I posted the link and even uploaded the PDF to our tutorial section.
