can anyone help with this xbox i have plugged it in but all it does is powers on then tries 3 times to work but no video and no audio also no lights on the front at all it wont eject either, i have to unplug it to turn it off , its not been chipped or even opened, it was made in 01/03/2002 so i dont know what model it is product id is 622 2117296 20903 and it says silver on the label, is it a dead xbox or can it be sorted out, i have searched the forums but cant find the answer .

sorry about the delay, i have opened it up its abit dusty but no marshmallow to be seen the board looks ok, any more suggestions that i can try

i have gave it a good clean and it now works but it wont read any dvds its a thomson dvd drive thats in it does this mean the laser is dead or can it be cleaned thanks for all the help so far

Try cleaning the DVD players lens with a q-tip and a drop of rubbing alcohol.

u may have to adjust da dvd lens voltage, like the ps2

If those options don't work for you then you might take this chance to upgrade your dvd drive to a better samsung or phillips product. Thomson was the worst drive ever put in the xbox and Microsoft should have thier hand slapped for even thinking about putting them in the xbox. _________________
