Post subject: Action Replay & USB Memory Stick problems
Reply with quote

Hi there,

Am trying to softmod my xbox using SID, and when following the manual I come across a problem. I am using a USB XBOX cable so that I can plug in any USB memory stick. I formatted it on the xbox, then followed a guide here (http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-194.html) to modify the driver so that it would show up in action replay, but it doesn't.

What am I doing wrong? Am I correct in thinking that one can just drag and drop the save games ( in my case SID5.Loader.SplinterCell.PAL and SID5.Installer) in the action replay window?

Pretty stuck, would love any help!

Thanks in advance,
velkro

I had a look on that list earlier but wasn't too sure... mine's some cheapy unbranded (as far as I can see) usb memory stick, but it does show up in the xbox memory manager thing - so does that mean it's compatible?

Thanks for the quick response!

No man just cuz it shows up does not mean that it will work.
Lots of the drives in the list are getting cheaper and cheaper so i wold try to find one that works for sure and if you have a mem card for xbox you can allways mail it to someone that can put the save on it for you, if you can wait that long and i know most folks cant. lol

Well i cant say for sure and i wold keep playing around with it till i got one that worked but i wold guess that that is the prob.

Are you leveing the saves zipped when you put them on the card?

Yeah, just leaving the files as is.

Have tried just forgetting about action replay and using windows explorer to put the files on the memory card, but obviously it's formatted in a different filesystem to one that windows would understand.

Running around the house now borrowing memory cards from everyone.

Some Googling has revealed a program called OZXMemory... is this of any use? I was going to use the Splinter Cell method, and this appears to be for the Mechwarrior method... but surely the idea is the same?

I found that program on the Xbox Linux Wiki... but is it of any use? I can't really figure out how to use it.

If this guide http://www.xbox-hq.com/html/xbox-tutorials-194.html wont work for you i doubt that any other app will get it to go for you.

Well, slowly getting somewhere I think.

Have figured out how to modify the driver to get my memory stick to work with action replay, and have been able to copy the saves onto my memory stick. then when i put this in the xbox, as soon as i connect it it says that there's an error on it and it has been erased.

I bought another memory stick today (2gb, Integral) because there was a 32Mb Integral memory stick that was on the compatibility list (didn't think to look in antique shops for a 32Mb memory stick Wink but this one isn't getting formatted on the xbox. I can't get it to erase it at all.

Any more advice?

Thanks!

I did, modified the driver as per the guide and it shows up in action replay fine. Have tried copying both the installer and the splinter cell at the same time, or one at a time - and either way it gets erased straight away.

the new stick still isn't formatting either.
