Hi, I am following the tutorial...but am unable to locate the CONFIG.XML file.. Shocked

Why can`t I find it? Use FlashFXP, and have no problem locating the XBMC folder and all its files, but not the one that I need..

The tutorial: http://www.xbox-scene.com/articles/relax.php

>> Now FTP to your xbox and browse to your xbmp folder and copy over CONFIG.XML to your desktop
Open config.xml with wordpad. <<

Found a file called "XboxMediaCenter.xml"..but that did`nt help me much...

Anyone? Confused

Okay..so far i figured out that the config.xlm file must be my file called "XboxMediaCenter.xml"..

Since I`ve obviously have got a different version, I can`t follow the tutorial step by step..

This is my actual problem: The tutorial says the setup should look like this;
Arrow
share>
<name>Network (XBMSP)</name>
<url>xbmsp://192.168.0.1/mymusic</url>
<cachesize>256</cachesize>
</share>

Once its gone add this share in its place

!!!NOTE!!! The ip (192.168.0.1) here is replaced by the ip TO YOUR gateway. (Often it is 192.168.0.1)

<share>
<name>RELAX</name>
<url>c:\music@192.168.0.1</url>
</share>
Arrow

This is what my setup looks like:

<!-- my music shares !-->
<music>
<default></default>
<bookmark>
<name>F Drive</name>
<path>F:\Media</path>
</bookmark>

Changed the info to:

<!-- my music shares !-->
<music>
<default></default>
<bookmark>
<name>RELAX</name>
<path>E:\Xbox\Music@192.168.0.1</path>
</bookmark>

I can now identify the new folder (Relax) on my xbox using XBMC...but not the files that are in my shared folder on my pc...

anyone know what to do?

hey mate,

sorry i havent been able to answer your questions soon but im on 56k because of a lightning strike.. Smile

I lost my PC's POWERSUPPLY (thank god it was only that) and my ADSL MODEM.. Sad I had surge protectors running too..

anyway, ill reply best i can here and will email DJB to get him to help. I know for a fact he has used this more recently then me.

here goes.. By the looks of it your nearly there..
You have to use a username and password to connect to your PC SHARE.. Smile Make sure both the username and password are in the PATH..

e.g. USER:PASS@192.168.0.1

anyway, DJB will reply soon im sure.

cheers and hope you get it sorted

I just looked in my XboxMediaCenter.xml file and found this info.
Im not sure if you have read it or not but thought i had better add it..

I remember when XBMC (xbox media center_ came out it was totally DIFFERENT from XBMP (xbox media player).. So the tutorial your using for XBMP is ONLY FOR XBMP..

The tutorial your reading is giving you the rough idea but its just something your missing..

Heres from my XboxMediaCenter.xml:
Code:
<bookmark>
      <name>SMB</name>
       <!-- you can use the following formats: !-->
       <!-- smb://domain;user:password@ip/share/directory/ !-->
       <!-- smb://user:password@ip/share/ !-->
       <!-- if guest/public access is enabled: !-->
       <!-- smb://ip/ !-->
      <path>smb://DOMAIN;username:pwd@MyWindowsServer/pictures/</path>
    </bookmark>

the main part to look at is:
Code:
<bookmark>
<name>SMB</name>
<path>smb://WORKGROUP;username:pwd@MyWindowsServer/pictures/</path>
</bookmark>

let us know how ya go.. Hopefully DJB will have his alreadys setup and working.. He wont mind posting a sample..

Thx for your reply Smile

I gave up on relaX when I found a whole list of tutorials on Xbox-Scene.
(Can be found here (http://forums.xbox-scene.com/index.php?s=cd1b5a1d23399df85eb2a40e22a76c27&showtopic=233298&st=0 ((..hope I am not doing any thing wrong by posting a link to this site.. Embarassed ..but sharing knowledge is good..right?? ))

I have followed each one very carefully..but there is something I am not doing right.

I can now access my my shared folders on my xbox..but when I attempt to access the files in the folder I get "Accsess Denied"...

Can`t figure out why...I can easily access the files in the default folder MySharedDocs wich was already on my pc (XP PRO), but not the files in the folders that are on the drives I have mounted.

Checked the settings on that folder and compared it to my own "MyShared" at they seem the same. As said, I can access all folders..but not the files..how come?

My setup in the .xlm file is:

<path>smb://DOMAIN;privat-de743a40/MyShared/</path>
</bookmark>
<bookmark>
<name>WORKGROUPS (SMB)</name>
<path>smb://privat-de743a40/MyShared</path>
</bookmark>

So that seems fine...winged out "Share this folder on the Network" (C:/MyShared where the mounted drives are located) but still...no luck

Any hints?

OK, I have posted up a tutorial on how to use Samba with XBMC.

It works a lot more general that what you are all trying to do.

Here's a URL for a forum link I've posted: HERE

And here's a PDF of that post: HERE

Hope that helps...
