Yes I have the official xbox system link cable, this is the situation when I turn modded xbox A on it shows no Ip until I turn modded xbox B on and vise versa which is probably suppose to happen I don't know, but that tells me that they are connected I think.
IP for Xbox A is 192.168.1.204 and IP for Xbox B is 192.168.1.200
Gateway is on both 192.168.1.1
They are connected directly to each other no router and I am running the games from the hard drive with the mod chips on, in Halo 2 for example when I create a game on one the other Xbox should see the game and allow me to join but it does not, it see's no games and wants to create a new game.
What am I doing wrong is there a setting in evox I am missing or will system link only work with original games on MS bios, No backkups or mod chips ?
[Misc]
These are my two evox file one for xbox A and one for xbox B
what do you think guys ?

If your linking them to transfer files I would use avalaunch dash on both xboxes as it has a auto xbox to xbox link that will do all the work. Then you can transfer away. _________________ Xbox 360 #2

Well actually i'm not transferring files I am just wanting to play games against my son, me on my tv and him on his tv, both xboxs have a mod chip and I am trying to play the games from the hard drives with the mod chips turned on.
They both ftp to my computer just fine and they both have ip addresses so I know the connection is ok, I don't know if system link works with modded xbox's playing games from the hard drive ? does it. ?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
We really want to play together but I don't want to buy two copies of the games.

Then you shouldn't have to change anything. Just hook up the crossover to both boxes and make sure you choose system link from the specific game menu after the game is loaded. I've played my son the same way...but I think one game was on the HDD and the other running the disk. _________________ Xbox 360 #2

when you played each other did and IP address show up or not does it even matter if there is an IP for system link or is that only for the internet or ftp ?
For some reason they are not communicating with each other but they both hook up fine to my computer.

To transfer files from one box to the other the ip address is important. But to system link for game playing it should not matter. Just start the game on both boxes with the crossover cable connected and if the game is system link compatable it will let you choose that option within the game. Note that some games are multiplayer splitscreen while not being system link compatable.
When my son and I play doom3 from both HDD's we just plug in the cable and start doom on both boxes. Then the systen-link option highlights in the game start menu and off we go. _________________ Xbox 360 #2

Thanks sky I will try doom3 I have tried only two games so far that is halo 2 and crimson skies and it did give us the system link option but both boxes wanted to create a game nither one would find the others game for some reason, might just be those 2 games I don't know , if I can find some more system link games I will try them and see if I can't get this thing to work.
If you know of anymore good system link games go ahead and post them I will check them out.
Later

I know forza is sys link. If one of you starts the link game the other can go back to the start screen and try again and the new link game should show up. _________________ Xbox 360 #2

Just wondering if you have a router? I tried doing the exact same thing as you are referring to with a Crossover cable and couldn't get it to work. I have a router and simply using it was able to get them to see each other. The only thing about that was having the two Xbox ethernet cables connected next to each other Ie... Ports 1 & 2 on the router not 1 & 3. Hope this helps.

It's interesting chuck that you could not get it to work either with just the cable but could get it to work with the router, I do have a router and have not been able to get it to work that way either so far but atleast now I know I am not the only one having this problem, the more info I get the closer I will be to solving this problem, thanks for your help maybe one of the sites top xbox gurus will read this thread and give me some input
maybe not but one can hope right

Hi guys,
Just to add:
If you are connecting directly without router/hub/switch then use a CROSSOVER CABLE..
Ive never had a issue with it at all.
*** Ive played SYSTEM LINK MANY WAYS.. WITH ROUTER WITHOUT ROUTER, CROSSOVER WHATEVER.. IT DOESNT MATTER ****
You dont need to have your EVOX MENU or IP ADDRESS SETUP AT ALL.
YOU CAN JUST BOOT DIRECTLY TO A GAME IF YOU LIKE.. A NON-MODDED XBOX WILL ALSO WORK FINE WITH SYSTEM LINK!
To Start a GAME:
XBOX 1 (HOST):
1. Start game like FORZA you want to play
2. Choose profile then multiplayer and then SYSTEM LINK option
3. Choose to HOST or CREATE a new game.. Choose your car track etc etc and wait in whats called the LOBBY for other players.
4. Now start XBOX 2 with the crossover cable connected
XBOX 2:
1. Start game like FORZA you want to play
2. Choose profile then multiplayer and then SYSTEM LINK option
3. It should find a GAME that you have hosted.
4. Join that game and play
Thats it buddy.. You should be enjoying your games..
I have used up to 5 xboxes joined together for halo many times in the past just using a HUB/SWITCH and normal PATCH LEADD (not crossover).
