the next day, i put the cover back on and move it into another room and now it doesnt work, it just flashes red and orange
i put the mod chip back in and it goes green like its going to work, but there is no picutre on the tv
i've tried to get to the reflashing menu but i still dont get any picture on the screen...i was gonna sell it to llahma with a few other dead box's but i think that this one could easily be fixed so im asking here before i sell it if anyone has any ideas

I'm putting an Xecuter 3 in my brother's box right now and I'm getting the same problem.
When I try putting the new (blank) X3 CE chip in his, it does the thing where the LED is green, but I get no picture. When I try using my already flashed X3 chip in his system, it turns on briefly, turns off, turns back on, off again, and then on with flashing red and amber.
It's extremely frustrating because from what I can tell, it's a clean install. It has to be either the d0 or the LPC port, but both seem okay to me.
Anyone help?

Grrrrr... Okay here's the details...
With the X3 chip that's already flashed plugged in, and the first two bank switches turned on, the system turns on for half a second, then off for a second. Turns on for two seconds, off for two seconds. Then it turns on flashing amber and red, and the whole time there's no picture on the screen.
With the third and fourth bank switches on, it does the same thing, only flashes red and green.
Now, with the brand new blank X3 CE, changing the banks doesn't do anything. It just turns on once, then off. Then back on, stays green, but no picture.
I've checked the 13th and 14th LPC port solders (all of the LPC solders, actually), and the d0 solder, and I really can't see why it doesn't work. The other two systems I've modded with X3s work just fine, so I have no clue what's up.
It's either a 1.4 or a 1.5. None of the guide's I've found can tell me which (unless I have a multimeter to check the ground in the LPC, which I don't). If it's a 1.5, do I have to do something to ground the chip somewhere? I haven't seen any mention of this in any of the install guides.
For reference, it has a Thompson DVD, but no second fan. It has a Focus graphics chip, and it was manufactured in China.
Anyone who can help out is invited to sit at the head of the table at my next birthday party.

Just the way that it's booting and the fact that we're both having such similiar errors makes me think it's that damned d0 point.
Are you using the front or back d0, and how sure are you that you've got it connected to the right one?

the only that i had changed after i had loaded the soft mod onto it was that i took out the pin header to put back into my regular machine...when i tried reinstalling the chip, i used the wire install becaues it was MUCH faster but yeah, i am possitive that i have the D0 right...

Do you have it connected to the point marked in red in the pic below? That's the one it is on our problem boards (I think). On my other machine and my friend's that I did, it connects to the one marked in blue.

Yeah, mine is a 1.1 and my bud's is a 1.0.
I was hoping maybe I just had the wrong point, that way I could get it right and just be done with this mess...
Anyway, your chip is already flashed, right? You had it working and it stopped... It's gotta be something with our install jobs. I tried both chips in my box and they work fine (the blank one brings up the flash bios like it should), so I know it's not the chip.
The bad part is, I can't get the Xbox bios to load by disabling the chip either. I know it works if I take everything off and put it back to factory state, but that kinda defeats the point. Still, I have the option, while I'm not sure if you do or not.
I'll keep messing around with it (though I'm planning on drinking heavily soon to ease my frustration), and I'll let you know if I figure anything out.

Damnit, man. The only thing I can possibly think is that if it's not the d0 point (which it doesn't seem to be), then it's gotta be the LPC. Unless I hear otherwise before then, I think tomorrow I'll completely redo the pin header, which means desoldering the damn thing, then resoldering it back in. It could possibly be a damaged LPC, but I doubt it considering yours shouldn't be damaged and we're having the same issue.
There's gotta be something obvious that we're missing here...
