I got pretty pissed about my room mates using my Xbox when I'm at work...so I password protected the BIOS.
After I set up a password, I restarted the Xbox to make sure it works...and it gets to the XBOX screen with the "Xecuter rox my box" at the bottom and freezes.
...any ideas on how I might resolve this?
I've tried to flash the BIOS to no prevail. If I turn the chip off (hold the power button when I turn it on) it loads to the MS dashboard.
Other useful info may be that I have an upgraded hard drive in the box...

Try holding ABXY on boot, its the X3's eeprom *not your xbox's) reset, so it might disable the option that caused it to lag. It restores everything on the chip to default _________________ XBOX v1.6

No such luck, when I hold ABXY...it still just goes to that "rox by box" thing and stays...

Um, another usual solution would be to flash a stable x2 bios to a bank see if that works for you, and try reflashing the other bank, it will hopefully give you ftp access.
Just do the backup flashbios power+eject., you should get a purple X, if you do it right and get a black screen, hold the eject button a split second after the power.
The X2 is a lite bios and doesn't require a lot like the x3. you might just try to reflash with a different x3 build. _________________ XBOX v1.6

Not sure, I will check and get back with you on that, i might be tommorow. If someone else answers awesome, but i am going to go to bed early finally in a longggg time.
Only way would be to flash each specific bank back with flashbios 3.01 (1234) and 3.03 (5678) and erase the eerpom. Also, delete the data.ini file from the E: drive and any other user data.
It would take work, a programmer like the x2 would make it an easier job to reset.
Doesnt the x3 erase w/ 1959 erase the eeprom?? _________________ XBOX v1.6

I'm such a noob...I have no idea what you're talking about.
Perhaps a step by step might be helpful?
I just tried going in and taking the chip out and running it without the chip and then re-installing but that did nothing.
I'm completely lost
