I know their are other large games people are trying to burn, but I have burnt Ninja Gaiden on a regular DVD by deleting the foreign language files. The files named ****_f.*** can all be deleted & the game still plays exactly as it would from the original disc
realmccloy, my samsung has only read 1 brand of DVD+R. Maybe you should try a DVD- disc. Even the manufactureres website says it is a DVD-R drive. I made over 10 coasters until I decided to switch & have not had a problem since

I haven't located any DVD9 media that is -R yet. But, I got rid of my xbox that had the samsung anyway, and I also got rid of my spare samsung. I now have all Phillips drives.
If I get time this weekend I am going to try to do the DL Burn again.
later man

I think there are two issues to be considered...
1. Media compatibility. I truly believe that, while not insurmountable, will be more problematic than your regular blank DVDs. That is to say, the Xbox DVD drive will probably be even pickier about the DL DVD and the way it's burned. This is in addition to the extreme price difference between regular DVDs and DL DVDs... you won't want many coasters!
2. Software issues. You'll need to make sure your burning software can handle burning DL DVD ISOs. In theory, the latest version of Nero should do the job. I have heard reports of success, but also there are many DL coasters out there.
I'd recommend holding off on purchasing one unless you consider yourself a pioneer ("Early Adopter/Adaptor"). A very small percentage of games require a DL DVD anyway. In the coming months DL DVD burners will likely become better & cheaper, blank media will become much cheaper, and the software more reliable. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

The Samsung is the most sought-after, but I've found the Phillips to be pretty good. The Thomson frustrates me. When I try to flash my chip, I often have to try the disc repeatedly before it finally recognizes it! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

If RealMcCloy sells 'em on his website (www.themodgod.com ), I'd definitely buy it from him. Support those that support you! I hadn't seen them on his website, but I wasn't really looking for him. In a reply to your other post (I think it was your post), I'd suggested www.xboxrepairguide.com, but get it from RealMcCloy if you can! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Oh yea...by the way, Im not lazy. I have researched this quite a bit. Even put in a good hour at my local best buy. There are so many and they all are great....Im just looking for an opinion, because I have never owned a DVD burner. I just want to make sure I get one that is dependable. I know Sony is dependable.....but they also tend to cramp the wallet lol.
PS. Everyong look!!!!! at my avatar!!!!! RM did that.....isnt ir purty? haha. _________________ SE Halo Xbox v1.4 :

True, but it's hard to go wrong with a Sony... many of their products are outstanding, most are very good, and only rarely are their products a piece of sh!t... PS2 comes to mind. The Sony DL DVD burner I saw at Best Buy was a little over $100 for internal and about $100 more for external. If the Sony is more dependable than Brand X, it'll quickly make up for the difference by creating fewer coasters. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Yea Im most likely to go with the Sony DL Burner.....but then? Isnt the media cost much more?
How many movies are coming in DL nowadays. I'll most likey use the burner for movies, not games....Thats why I have the massive 250GB HD lol. Just like u Porsche! I now have 31 games backed up....and still have around 190GB left. Do I dont think I'll ever have to back a game on a DVD lol.

Yes, I forget what RM said, but I thought it was some ridiculous amount.... like $5-6 a disc. Expensive enough that I'd cry if I got a coaster... but then again, I went to a casino here in New Orleans yesterday (where I'm attending a convention) and nearly cried at the slot machines.... put $20 in and on my second to last spin (5 cent slot machine!), I hit it lucky and ended up with a whopping $26.65. My friend dropped $800 at the craps table and didn't give it a second thought! I must cry easily!

That's what I said, but 700GB later, I'm burning them to DVD now. Guess I need another HDD!
Hey! I finally got my Formula One 2002 PAL Xbox game from the guy in the UK. I won it on ebay on September 10th, 2004 and I paid almost instantaneously. My wife said it arrived at home today. Oh well. better late than never! Still haven't heard from the Aussie scammer about the three Xbox games I bought from him. Guess I'll have to pick up thre phone and give him a call! _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room

Well, first off, it's not ALL Xbox games
Slamscaper wrote:

I don't have an exact number for you, but www.gamefly.com lists 578 Xbox games and even thuogh it is a very extensive collection, it is certainly not ALL NTSC-US Xbox games. My list of 2004 releases alone is nearly 200 and the year ain't over. This list is mainly NTSC-US, some PAL, and a few NTSC-J games. If you were to total NTSC-US, NTSC-J, and PAL, you'd probably have around 300 or more new releases (excluding duplicates... i.e. not counting twice a game with an NTSC and a PAL version).
AND, you'll never get 700 games on 700GB. Most games are over 1GB and many are 3-4GB or more. I doubt you could even get 500 games on 700GB, but still... more than you can play in a lifetime!
Furthermore, if you share the HDD between 2 Xboxs, you may end up with a copy of a system link game on 2 drives. _________________ The World's Most Awesome Xbox 360 Room
