First of all, here's my info.
Xbox (according to System Info-> Network in XBMC);
Type Static
Link 100mbps Full Duplex
IP 192.168.0.2
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway 192.168.0.1
DNS 0.0.0.0
Internet "Internet:Xbox is not connected. Check network settings." <- the problem?
Kai can log on in XBMC fine, I can get the weather but ReplayTV/ShoutCast don't work
PC;
IP 192.168.0.1
Subnet 255.255.255.0
Gateway . . .
DNS nothing
all authentication is off
Everything on the net works fine, including Kai
My Kai settings are
Kai port/Deep Port = 0/0
PAT = off
UI = off
Engine = on
HomeBrew = off
Adaptor = My LAN card
Close engine after = Never
Accept UI connections from = Any IP Address
I'm on 128k ISDN. The setup is like
Modem-----{USB cable}----Laptop-----{Crossover}-----Xbox (with XBMC running as an app)
I use ZoneAlarm as a firewall, my xbox is on the trusted network and I have allowed 0.0.0.1 full access, but I don't know how to do that for UDP port 3074, it's just enabled as trusted. I was thinking I should get an ISDN/ADSL router, as we might be switching to ADSL soon.
The way I have it going is, Load XLink Kai, boot my Xbox, load XBMC and log into XLink via My Programs-> XLink Kai, choose Arena/game and hit play. I have tried going straight from EvoX, AvaLaunch (I have the app version installed) and the M$ Dashboard. I have tried almost all of my System link games including Halo, FlatOut, Conker L&R and Unreal Championship 2. I can get to the System link menu in all of those games, but none of them find any games. I actually put Halo at the Join System link game screen and HAD A SHOWER, when I got back, still looking. Another thing I've noticed is that the Upstream/Downstream monitor of Uptimer4 (From the maker of HiJackThis) didn't change at all. not even .01 of a KB. It goes to about 670 KB upstream when I'm streaming movies to my Xbox with ReLaX. Another possiblity, my Crossover cable is stuffed or too long. It's 10 metres and we've had it for 3 years. my Xbox and Laptop are 5 metres apart (maybe less). SMB shares work perfectly and I have Internet Connection Sharing enabled. Is there anything I should enable in the ICS settings, like uPnP (UDP)?
I have already posted this on the Xlink Kai forums, but it's been about 17 hours and noone has replied.
edit: AH-HA! I tried to run the Quicktime Browser script and it gave me the error "Undefined or not working DNS server". I'm on ISDN so I don't have a DNS server. Could this be the problem?

try disabling your firewall for one. and did you start Kai after you ran the Kai Configure Tool? before you try to get Kai running on XBMC you should try and get it running off your pc first. Run the Config tool and set the profile to normal user. not sure what else to tell you sorry :/

Ok, out of linksboks now.
Before Wednesday, I hardly knew anything about ICS. On Wednesday, we reformatted my brother's computer, but we accidently left the LAN cable in. When we were done, I noticed there was a "Bigpond on Laptop" thing in his network connections, so I opened IE. When MSN.com loaded, I decided to see what was different to my Xbox's settings. It WAS the DNS. Apparently, to get ICS working, DNS has to be set to the IP of the PC with ICS on.
I am SO glad I learned that. I'm starting TAFE next year... _________________ My Aki EvoX skin!
