Hello Every One!
I've just suceeded in installing Xebian on my Xbox, and I'm trying to figure out how to run emulators on it. Unfortunatly, all the emulators I find have instructions that involve Evox. When I look up Evox, it seems that all the tutorials asssume that I already hava a mod chip (which I don't). They also appear to be listing commands that invlove the C and E partitions, which just sorta vanished after I installed Xebian. Am I supposed to loose all my partitions after Xebian installs? (the dir "mnt" is compleatly empty). Also, is a mod chip a requirement for Evox? And lastly, is there any way to bypass evox and the use of partitions all together in order to get an emulator working? Any help is greatly appriciated!

I hate to counter your Q. with another Q. but I know nothing about xebian.
Is that a native install your using?
I`ll do a little homework and come back, cos I`d like to know the difference betwwen
xebian and Gentoox home.
and I`d also like to know if emu`s and whatever can be launched from
I belive I installed it in the game partition when it asked. The one your supposed to boot with the boot_fax_e.iso disc. Although I noticed it didn't need the disc. I geuss becuase I did the mech Assult hack, I can now just boot it from the menu item on the dash board. Anyway, the http://xbox-linux.sourceforge.net/cgi-bin/moin.cgi/InstallEmulators site looks promiseing. I'll give it a go. Thanks a bundle guys! Really approciate the help!

Well, I tried out that web site, and I got up to the command "./autogen.sh"
under the "Compiling ZSNES" section. The response I got was:
Generating build information using aclocal and autoconf...
./autogen.sh: line 6: aclocal: command not found
./autogen.sh: line 7: autoconf: command not found
./autogen.sh: line 10: ./configure: No such file or directory
Since the command fails, the make files are not generated and I cannot continue with the tutorial. I wouldn't suppose I'd be lucky enough to find some whose run these commands before? Or perhapps some one who is familiar enough with Linux to tell me how the aclocal and autoconf commands work, or where I can find the packages for them? Thanks!

Great! That would be excelent! I can use all the help I can get. I checked the path usr/share/aclocal, and it appeared to be present (which is where I think it's supposed to find it). I even took a peek inside autogen.sh and ran the commands individually and tried edited the path to explicitely point the correct directory, but it didn't seem to make a difference in terms of output. I'm really stumped, I can't figure out why it wouldn't find it. Anyway, if there's anyone who could shed some light on the subject, it would be greatly appriciated! Thanks!

Ah! SUCESS! I seem to have got it going. I appriciate the help, but I geuss you don't need to bother your friend anymore! I figure I'd retrace my steps for anyone else who may have this problem. On a hunch, I assumed the version numbers listed in the tutorial may have been outdated. So, under the "installing SDL"section, I altered the wget command to downlaod SDL-1.2.8.tar.gz instead of SDL-1.2.7.tar.gz, and then was carefull to type SDL-1.2.8 when ever the tutorial called for SDL-1.2.7. I also noticed that there was an upgraded version of zsnes available: zsnes142src.tar. I didn't use the cvs command the tutorial used (under the section "downloading zsnes"), I just downloaded the file (via ftp or Xebian's fire fox app) into the same dir as the old zsnes (/usr/src), and used the command tar -zxvf zsnes142src.tar to unzip it. (be sure to note the folder name that it unzips and substitute this name where ever the tutorial calls for the znes folder) When I got to the "compiling zsnes"section, it still didn't fix the aclocal or autoconf problems, but it did proceed to compile itself ... almost. It then told me I needed somthing called NASM to compile correctly. SO, I downloaded the latest nasm package: nasm-0.98.39.tar. A simple google search will bring up the nasm homepage. Then I followed the installation tutorial : http://nasm.sourceforge.net/doc/html/nasmdoc1.html. Then I resumed the emulator tutorial under "compileing zsnes", and IT WORKED! There were some minor configure issues once zsnes was up and running. Xebian uses the xbox controller as a mouse, and zsnes uses the mouse to enter/exit roms. So be sure to go into the "MISC" menu, select "GUI OPTIONS", and uncheck "CLICK ENTERS GUI". To exit a rom, you'll need to push the '8' key (you'll need a usb keyboard and an adaptor to plug into the xbox controller). I also noticed the roms ran in a bright flourecent pink color scheme. To fix this, go to "CONFIG" and select "OPTIONS" the check "NEW GFX ENGINE". Now it works like a charm! That about wraps it up. Thank you so much to all of you that have helped me, and good luck to those following my foot steps. I'll probably see you all soon when I attempt to do somthing even crazier with my xbox.
