Hi da-goat,
Have you got this one sorted yet???
Are you sure you havent already tried to access XBOX LIVE with your modchip on?? I hope you remember that you need to have it switch off and you need a original game to use the XBOX LIVE serviice otherwise your xbox eeprom will be banned.
Anyway, hope you got it sorted otherwise reply to keep your topic active.
yeah, im sure cause im real good about that
but the thing is is that i cant ftp either, when i plug in my crossover cable to my laptop, it says its connected (the little computer with the red "X" goes away) but it wont connect, i made sure the I.P address was right and everything, (thats for ftp)
on live, ive tried everything i can think of but i keep getting a DCHP error or DNS error, or IP error, (its always one of those three)
i dunno what the prolblem is here but any help is appreciated!!
thanks

kk.. First of all we need to get your xbox on the same network as your pc/router... Can you do this for me.
1. Click Start Menu
2. Choose 'Run' and type 'cmd' and press enter
3. at the DOS prompt type 'ipconfig /all' and press enter
Or if you know how to get your ip address info from your router just login to your router and let me know the info.
I need the following info to help:
ip:
subnet:
default gateway:
dns:
Just copy and paste your ip info in another post and i will reply with what yor xbox settings should be..
Btw.. What xbox Dashboard are you running?? Evox, UnleashX, Xbox Media Center??
PC:
ip: 192.168.0.1
sub 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.0.100
xbox:
ip:192.168.0.2
sub 255.255.255.0
gateway: 192.168.0.100
i couldn't find the dns for either computer or xbox (dns field on xbox when looking at the settings useing evox is just blank)
i have Avalaunch, Evox, MXM, and Unleash X installed for dashes so i can use what ever you need me to use
computer is windows xp, although thats probably not important
xbox is v1.1
mod chip xecuter 2.3b pro
also, im not using a router with this setup although i can hook one up if nessacery
when trying to get on live, i use a cat 5 regular straight cable to plug into xbox and dsl box and when i plug it into my computer i use across over cable for that
i have been working on computers for the past 6 years so if you need something just ask, you dont need to list every step (just trying to make it easier for you)
thanks alot

ok.
The easiest way is to just connect a normal RJ45 network lead into your router from our xbox.. Then go into your ip setting of the xbox and give it a static ip address in the same range as your router.
for example.. If you router had a ip address of 192.168.0.1 and a subnet of 255.255.255.0 then you would give your xbox the following info:
xbox:
192.168.0.10 (just in case you have other machines on the network)
Then make sure you choose STATIC IP.. And chooose save and exit if using evox dashboard..
apart from that you should be seeing the indicator lights on the back of the xbox and the router light up.
ANOTHER TIP:
Just make sure you turn off your firewalls until you get ftp working..
well, on avalaunch, on the bottem where it would say "no link" now has an ip address in its place, so i typed that into the ftp box and it still says i have timed out...the light are flashing like there is activity but its still not working...i dont care so much about live at this point because it was only a two week trial, but i really need to get this ftp working
another (what i thought) weird thing is when i boot to the MS dash, the screen kind of floats around instead of staying still like on my other box...i dunno if that sounds familar to you or not but i thought i would throw that out there too
thanks for your help

The xbox should be working fine then.. Thats a strange one..
Maybe your nic card in the xbox is playing up or something..
Have you turned off all your firewalls?? Just do that to make sure its not a firewall issue..
man, if you have another xbox already working on your network i have no idea why this one isnt working.
The only other thing i could think of is that you may need to reinstall your dashboard.. It may have a corrupt file or something..
Maybe just to test install EVOX DASHBOARD as a application.. And then set ip address to AUTOMATIC and see if it gains one..
well im beginning to think that it is a problem with the NIC on the xbox motherboard
i've tried formating and reinstalling the dash, as well as cd boot and auto installers so i dont really know what to do here
i do have another trashed xbox motherboard so i could possibley attepmt to replace the NIC from this one with the other but i really dont know how i would go about doing that...well, i've got nothign to lose really so ill do that when time allows and report back to ya on how it turns out...thanks for help
btw...none of the VIP servers let me log on
