Ok, I'm trying to hook up a USB flash drive to the xbox. I went and got a extension cable for the xbox controller, and a USB extension cable. I cut both of them and I'm supposed to match up the wires according to color, but the xbox extension cable has white, blue, red, brown, and yellow wires (I'm supposed to discard the yellow one though); and the USB cable has white, red, green, and black wires.
I assume I still hook white to white, and red to red. But how should I hook the other ones together? Thanks for your help.

All right. Due to no reply, I searched the web some more and found out that if the wires don't match colors, you just have to guess until you get it right.
This now leaves me with another question. I heard that some USB flash drives will work and others won't as a Xbox memory card. My question is, if I do get the wires set up right, how can I tell if my USB drive one of the ones that works or not. Will anything happen if it's not one of the "compatible" drives, or will it just do nothing?

Sorry for the no reply, but I have not tried using and flash drives on my xbox, nor have I heard anyone talk about doing so in the last two months or so. I too will see what I can find you via searching the net. _________________ Good Deals: Death@Hand, funkydopenloven, StaticMind, Slamscaper, PorscheXboxter

I was doing some more searching, and found a huge list on which USB drives work, and which don't. Unfortunately mine (Lexar Jumpdrive 128) is on the "doesn't work" side.
Since I just got my paycheck last Friday, I may go out and get one that will work, so with a working drive and a non-working drive, I can figure out how the wires are supposed to be connected, then I can come back and tell you if anything happens when you put an incompatible USB drive in there.
It may sound like I have everything figured out, but I have one more question: after I connect the four wires correctly, do I need to connect the outside wires (I think they call it the guard) too?

Hmmmm, apparently I was supposed to use brackets for html. Let's try again:
Hmmmm... contribute to an online community? I don't think I have ever done that before. Well it certainly sounds like something I could do. You just want me to take pictures of what I'm doing along the way? And maybe some shots of the dashboard if it does something wierd. Sound good? I'll of course include some documentation. Let me know if there is anything else I can do to make the tutorial more comprehensive.
By the way, your avatar... it's quite.. entrancing. It's like she is hypnotizing me with her ass. I like it. Butt that's off topic. I'll get a different working USB drive and then start on the tutorial. I will, of course, be open to any advice along the ass... I mean way.
